OT Medicare

Lot of discussion about "O" care on the 29hr work limit but I wonder how many on here are on Medicare and if you have been informed yet by your doctor, that he will no longer take Medicare patients. I have not but, have 2 friends (different doctors) that recieved letters a couple of weeks ago informing them that would have to find another doctor, that they would no longer accept Medicare patients. Another told me that his $6 perscription went to $168.

That's the least of the trouble brewing. Wait until they tell us what they will pay for and how much they will pay the doctors, hospitals, etc. How else can they reduce the cost of healthcare but limit/deny procedures. Insurance is not the samme as healthcare.

I got a letter today from my Supplement provider notifying me of a policy increase. They mentioned the increase was due to medicare cutting services.

I have been on medicare for 16 years and have had no problems at all. No letters from the Dr.
My suplemental is Blue cross Blue shield.
My suplemental is expensive. Has always been.
Could it have something to do with the type of ins. you have and how much it costs per month?

There are several million senior citizens that were duped into voting for the creator of this mess, I wonder how long it will take for a meaningful backlash.

I am 20 year USN retiree, 73 yo, with combat related disability (not mental thanks) and have the normal Tricare for Life Supplemental. It will pay for both VA outcare and Medicare costs. I got a letter the other day warning me that Tricare4Life "might not be available for me in some cases. IOW bend over and grab your socks.

external_link/Pelosi plan all along was to bankrupt the existing system so the government can take over everything. Socialized medicine is the goal, not managing costs in our existing system.

In tonight's paper they said the Dr visit was 72.00 and the government would pay 16.00, how long would you stay in business. Just a side note to the smokers here, if you have a private insurance, your rates will go up 50% Jan. 1 2014. Another thing that is coming, they will be charging all of us fat people more too.

Thomas Jefferson said "Any government big enough to give you everything you want is big enough to take evrything you have!" or words to that effect. He was pretty smart guy, and this external_linkcare program will prove his point.

My wife's prescriptions went up after the first of the year but that was because she has to start over on her deductible again. Same thing happens every year so she tries to stock up before years end but doesn't always work that way. Hospitals are always busiest at the end of the year doing surgery's for the same reason.

The average Medicare couple pays $109,000 into the program and gets $343,000 in benefits out, according to the Urban Institute. This is $234,000 in free money.

Has nothing to do with who is in the Whitehouse. Medical costs are beyond any realistic expectations. Medical costs are the real enemy of our nations future.

Everyone rails against the "high cost of health care" and the govt is now saying they'll pay $ 16 for a doctor's visit??? That's the govt's answer? You can't get an oil change for that from a kid who's in high school.

My wife is a nurse and they'll be trying to make her work for minimum wage. The govt saying "this is all we'll pay" will just drive people out of the health care profession. Doctor's won't go to med school after college and wait until their mid 30's to start earning a good living if the govt considers a "good living" to be based upon paying them $ 16 per visit.

The problem is that everyone expects health care to be a "right" regardless of whether they can afford to pay for it. Don't have a job or insurance? No problem, just go to the ER everytime you don't feel well. They can't turn you away.

I (and probably most on this forum) pay thousands per year in premiums on top of what our employer pays. I don't have all the bling-bling, fancy cars, satellite dishes, $100 tennis shoes that the major beneficiaries of external_linkcare have.

My daughter is an attorney in the health care industry who knows the details of external_linkcare and she says "just wait, you ain't seen nothin' yet". the idea that OC will be utopia and everyone will get access to health care and costs will go down and anyone is BS. There is no such thing as a "free lunch".

There are 6 big hospitals in Louisville, all non-profits. The Chief Administrator of every one made over $1Mil. and one made $5,200,000.

The President of the University of Kentucky with 9000 employees made $625,000.

Governor made $156,000.
