Have you ever seen this picture?

He is probably the most famous person that has ever lived and not many really know him they just know his name.

Rowcrop you are correct.

It is a portrait of JOHN DEERE in later life, was the caption in the book under his picture.

Mr.Deere's birthday is coming up soon next month.

have you noticed when you see Henry Ford photographed outside he is most always bareheaded? In a day when men wore hats I find this interesting.

Cowman,

Went and looked at his google images again. You are right. If there is a hat in an outdoor photo he is only holding it or it is laying beside him.

Did you know that Henry Ford founded TWO car companys? Ford Motor Company, of course - but the other one is a bit "odd". His first car company venture - The Henry Ford Company went bankrupt in 1901 - reorganized and changed it's name to CADILLAC Automobile Company.....

I am asking if this is correct....as it is a story told to me by an old farmer ...who may have been slightly biased towards Our Fellow Countryman's tractors!!!!
A lot of young lads are driving new John Deeres over here with decals saying 'nothing runs like a deere' He laughs every time he sees that and says "they do not know what it means or they would remove it" I asked why? So he told me that JD started life in New England, NH possibly? and went bankrupt and ran from the authorities to Illinois, Where he was outside the laws of his original state....Hence the very old saying 'nothing runs like a deere'...nothing at all to do with the engine of the tractor!!
True or false?
Sam

Yup. AC and Champion both started by the same guy. Kinda like REO Speedwagon, Diamond REO and Oldsmobile.....All mamed after the same guy..
