Look at the double tree. At first I thought it was three horse hitch. But it is a double tree so the team is off to the side with a more even pull. Smart thinking.

Look closer, it is a 3-up evener, the right horse works to the right of the tongue and two other work the left side. The center horse and right horse work a double tree while the left horse is spread out a little further to offset the pull. We have used this setup for years.

TKS. You are correct. Something didn't look right, and I now see the over lap of the photo with the right, and center hook up. Good thing I didn't hitch them up. Of course like my Granddad would say the horses are smarter then the kid. Ha HA
