Another real good one is Plow Peddler by Walt Buescher. He started with Allis Chalmers in 1935 riveting levers for the new AllCrop combine, ended up as blockman for eastern Michigan and Northern Ohio. Retired in 1975 I believe. The whole book is his personal stories in the farm equipment business. A lot of humor, even more wisdom. Should be required reading for the executives of every farm equipment company in the country.

Dale Haymaker owns the AC museum in Paris, IL.

He once told me "If you know how many tractors you have, you don't have enough."

Great place to visit if you get down that way. Best if you can call ahead.

Has a nice harvest festival too. Orange Power of the Past.

Roger Welsch and his wc"s. Wife said reminded her of me but I
think it was only because of the bibs and the belly. Got a few
books for Christmas a few years ago. Entertaining.

Someone wondered why he only collects one model of tractor (Allis WC)- he said if they're all the same, you can get away with getting a lot more of them- you just kind of move them around some, and SWMBO can't really keep track of how many you have.

They are good reading. He started out fixing up an old WC Allis. That's his favorite. He doesn't restore them just gets them running good I guess.

Pretty good book. I think he has written four different books
about tractors. You will enjoy them.

He's a retired college professor. He's written a lot of stuff, much about Nebraska. He has even written a book about outhouses. I've got a fair number of his books.

I think he has had some health problems. He got run over by a drunk on a John Deere tractor.
