Went to our local TSC store this week to get some sea foam. When I checked out they asked me for my date of birth. Apparently some one has come up with another use for sea foam besides cleaning their carburetors. Cashier said it was the same for certain types of antifreeze now. Too bad these same creative geniuses can't come up with a idea that actually helps people.
 
I'm guessing there's more money in the "medicine" that they're making. As long as they don't get caught anyway. No FDA approval for what they're making.
 
I read this

The ingredients for Sea Foam are naphtha, isopropanol (isopropol alcohol), and pale oil (light oil). For alcohol I use the 91% stuff sold in drug stores.

By weight
40-60% pale oil (automatic transmission oil/ATF)
25-35% naphtha (Coleman camp fuel)
10-20% Isopropyl Alcohol.

I bet the pale oil is the same as the mineral oil that MMO is made of. I tried Sea Foam for hesitation, it didn't make any difference.
 
Seen sea foam at TSC last fall for $9.95 a can, heck it used to be a buck fifty ten years ago. It didn't do anything back then I wonder if it will do anything now??? the only additives I have ever used that have done any good at all are JB products.
 
Just a note here, isopropanol is POISONOUS - not to be ingested. (If anyone really could stomach that mix.) As far as using it for other chemistry, seems to me they could get the prime ingredients easier in their own containers from the appropriate retailers.
 
About every 3-4 months I pour a little naptha, purchased at the same TSC, in the tank. By the end of the tank (2004 5.3l, GMC 1/2 ton pickup) she runs a little smoother, feels a little faster on acceleration. With the gas available these days, I really think I'm doing the right thing.
Time will tell. I'm up to 149,000ish now. Dave
 
My four wheeler wouldn't run at high rpm last spring after it sat most of the winter. I put a full can of seafoam in the gas (much more than the label calls for). I puttered around with it for a week or two and put around 15 hours on it, then it came to life. I have been adding about a 1/4 can of seafoam every time I fill it up. I just poured a can in the fuel on a 66 F600 I just bought that idles great but takes some coxing to get up to speed...we shall see.

Had to go the hospital a while back, they asked if I used "recreational drugs." I did not even know what they were talking about, told the nurse I was not coming back for such a foolish question, she said they have to ask.
 
On that old ford try putting some penetrating oil of your choice in the vacume advance on the distibuter. I think it get's stickey from the old oil vaper that cummes up from the motor.
 
Try using Marvel Mystery Oil. I have had excellent results with it over the years. Four Oz. to twenty gallons of fuel, leave out one quart of oil and add one quart of MMO on oil changes.

If it works for you you could get mineral oil which is what MMO is, and save a lot of money.
 
couple tbspoons per gallon is good enuf ,, do not use it in crankcase as prescribed it will clean too quick ,, I kilt a chevy celebrity that was gunky with 180 k miles..spun a rod bearing

The effects of Seafoam is easier to see in small motors like 4wheelers than in big tractors or trucks. The carbs are just so much smaller that they gum up easier. Then when they are gummed up, its hard to get the treated fuel to flow to the needed spots to clean them up.

With additives like Seafoam, you either like it or hate it. I like it and use it because it simply works. I do cheat though and mix my own, tons cheaper that way. Just google for the ingredients.

ame question at a new Dr. office. Receptionist did not see my humor when I asked if Ciallis counted as a recreational drug.
