John B.: Are there any dairy farms around you??? Many of them use cotton seed for a feed ingredient. Many diaries buy them by the semi load. They are just the seeds that are removed at the cotton gins. They are unprocessed. They will grow. I have grow a few hand fulls several times over the years. Just start a few in dish and see if they germinate. If they do them just take some of the others and plant them just about like corn in depth. You would plant them thicker. As for any bowl weevil danger. I was told that the bowl weevil will not survive where the ground freezes. |

| JD I really do not know how the cold effects the weevil. With Northern states not having a commercial crop because the summers are to short to grow it they most likely do not have restrictions. I just mentioned it because I know the crop is regulated so it might be worth checking. I know in Louisiana you can not grow cotton unless you receive prior permission from the Dept of Agriculture. They want to know where every cotton plant is in the state. Our state is now weevil free but if you get permission to grow cotton the state will place a weevil trap in your area to make sure we preserve our boll weevil free status. |
