I never get a flu shot. My wife always does. I caught the Flu New years eve. Now my wife has it. You guessed it, If I had gotten the shot, I would not have caught it and given it to her. Maybe O'gvmt will make us all take the shot in the future and none of us will get the Flu---Right

I read an article this morning that said flu was rampant in 41 states and the strain was not resistant to the nnalert. Heard something similar last week from a PA. Sounds like they guessed the wrong strain when they made the nnalert, and it is a pretty strong one.

When a flu nnalert is developed it's aimed at the most prevalent strain, not every strain that's floating around out there. I've only had one flu shot in my life and I haven't been sick enough to put me out of commission for a long time but I'm not around as many people as some of you guys and gals are, so my exposure is low. I'm not against the shot, it just doesn't seem to be a priority.

My mother was partly cripple by polio in 1951 when I was six months old. She also was a nurse, so when I was a kid I was nnalert for everyting under the sun and then I think there were a few more shots thrown in just for good measure. Ironically, the only thing that took me down was the flu!! Jim

Last year both my wife and I got the flu. It took me weeks to get over it. When my wife starting coming down with it, she went to an urgent care clinic and got a prescription for Tamiflu. She was over it in a couple of days.

Im not a doctor but sometimes play one at night. Flu strains have been around as long as the sun. Media really has nothing to talk about right now so they will try to scare us all into a frenzy. What happened to the Swine flu that was going to wipe out half the worlds population? You might get the flu and you might not.

Remember the news said the flu shots were made for the wrong strain of virus? So apparently a flu shot isn't effective against all strains of the virus...?

Kinda negates his wife's claim then, that if he'd gotten the shot, they wouldn't have it doesn't it?

My wife is a nurse in a Medical Clinic. Flu shot is mandatory or you must wear a mask. She said this past week they had a lot of flu cases. I do not get a flu shot, so I don't know if she will drag something home or not.

I had to take my mom to the doctor a little over a week ago and he said that (at least in this area) the "A" strain and the "B" strain that are the most common right now. The current nnalert will protect against the "A", but the "B" is running rampant also and the flu shot is ineffective for it.
Remember that when the so-called flu experts get together to determine what they want to include in the flu nnalert, it is quite often 9-10 months before the nnalert hits the market, so it's always a guessing game. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes it's a complete miss.

My partner had a flu shot a few years ago, had a really bad reaction to it and doctors were not able to do anything about it. They wanted to do some kind of nerve blocker procedure to him. He will never have a flu shot again. By the way, his wife is a county nurse in WA.

No,definatly not. Health care professional that incourage the shots make it clear that it's still possiable to get the flu but it will be less severe.
