I was watching the news this morning with my coffee. Someone from the Dept of agriculture has the bright idea to keep our food safer by keeping wild animals out of the fields. This will keep our food cleaner. I hope that dosen't go anywhere. I can't even keep them out of my house. (mice)Stan

Sure all we need is a couple signs reading no deer or coyotes. And we pay people to come up with these recommendations?

I saw that last night. Told the wife it'd be hilarious if they weren't serious. I wonder if we're supposed to stop the birds from flying over too.

Next thing is they will have to set up a department to deal with the wild animals that now have to live on the roads as they are not allowed in the fields!!!
LOL....Sam

Don't you know it is a contradiction of terms you used?? Wisdom and Government in the same sentence is just plain and simple wrong since you know there is no wisdom in the gov any more just the rich trying to figure out how to take from the poor to get richer.
As for that idea that was like them saying that to help cut down on to many deer they should give them birth control shots

Just about fell out of my chair when I heard that one. Guess that will go over just about as well. As the town that banned animals from having you now what in public.

If they would take those deer crossing signs down, there would a lot less deer / car accidents. We're just concentrating the deer into that funnel crossing onto the the road.

We're allowed , still, to edumacate our kids, and rightfully so, by law. We're just not allowed to knock any common sense into them anymore. Some of these must now be getting into government jobs.....

So the government wants to take our guns away so we can't shoot each other but we'll still die from food borne disease brought on by an overpopulation of wild animals. Folks, in case you didn't know we HUMANS harbor far, far more harmful diseases than animals, wild or otherwise do. Coincidentally, the other day I was watching some show about the diseases we can get from just being in the public. Then I got to thinking about how many times a livestock farmer gets poop or cow snot or whatever else comes out of an animal, splattered or kicked into his mouth. He wipes his mouth out on his sleeve and goes on, and he never gets sick from it. Jim

yeah I heard that one too! Figured it must have been stuck in there by somebody with a relative in the fencing business.

Gotta love washington.

now chief! we've told ya and told ya, you cant use "wisdom" and 'government' in the same sentence at least since the 1950's

This is what happens when too many City people vote for our leaders. Pretty soon there isn't any common sense.

That's part of it too Randy. If you grow edible fruit or perishables that do not requiore cooking/caning then you will need to cover the transport trucks so no bird poop can get in!!!

Yep all the anti biotic's and the many many drug people take to be well lets say un-sick in the long run will make a person sick. Yes there is a point of being clean but when you walk in a store and pull out some wipe thing before you touch a shopping cart that is going to far and we will as a people get to the point all you have to do it look at something and get sick and die

(quoted from post at 22:01:52 01/05/13) a local businessman told one of his family relatives told him people shouldn't hunt deer as it is mean to kill them.
we should have birth control for them instead.

Patch ot pill for the does? Condoms for the bucks?

Rick

Why don't we just pass a law that deer can't go into our gardens? AND move the deer crossings to the less traveled roads? That'll save a few lives. (and right now someone might be thinking this is a good idea!)

I thought of having a "no deer crossing sign" put up on the roads, But....Deer cant read, dammit. I was a good idea cause I thought of it.
Them Deer are so dumb.

I think the govt. really needs to get together with the deer, the bear, the rabbits, the wild turkeys and the woodchucks and "negotiate" this whole thing before taking a rash actions.

If it were possible to keep animals out of fields we'd need fences at least six feet tall and 1 x 2 mesh to keep rabbits and squirrels out. What do you do with climbers and tunnelers, like coon and woodchucks? All book learned and no common sense.

Larry

Don't forget the birds, Ducks bring in bird flu and hawks and eagles can bring in salmonella. I guess we will now have to raise everything inside. All we need to do is put a roof over all the farms

I realize its a silly idea but I have a six' fence around a garden and I put a shocking wire around the top to keep squirls and coons out. I had a couple of peach trees the critters were breaking all the limbs off the trees to get the peaches.

Are you seriously asking that? No one wants contaminated food, but simply passing a law saying wild animals can't go into or over a field isn't going to solve the problem. So, either they expect the farmers to fence billions of acres from well under ground level to 5K or so feet high to keep bird poop off or it's just another feel good, unfunded, BS law.

I want to see the guy that is man enough to install a condom on a big whitetail buck during the rutting season.

("Here, hold my beer and ya"ll watch this!")

We have lots of "no wolf" bumper stickers around here, but they (the wolves) are still running all over the area killing everything in their path.

Think of the ramifications......They'll come up with some "guidelines". Then there will be programs to "educate" the farmers about the dangers of animals and birds and ways to keep them out of the fields. Then "enforcement" will come along. Don't forget the animal rights folks will get involved. They'll demand a requirement to set aside a certain percentage of your fields for habitat for the animals. So there will be guidelines, education programs and of course enforcement for the habitat issue as well. Some farmers won't be able to comply so the government will create a funding program. Guess where they'll get the money for that? The sad thing is there are people that think this is a good idea.

What are they gonna do? Have the fence police drive around and check every farm? Just another dumb idea to control people! What set off this in the first place? Was there a big outbreak or something?

They need to "Pass a bill first, so you can find out what's in it" then it will be too late.

OR..."If you like your [deer], you can keep him"

OR... Only animals under 250 lbs can stay in the fields, all animals over 250 lbs will be required to go on a diet, or they have to leave the field.

If you like those I have more... I'm with the 'Intelligence Department'.gov/whitehouse

So,..who is dumber?
The braindead Gubmint officials,...or the morons that voted them in office.

Those g-men aren't dumb. They have put in place a plan and its working like a charm. So the dumbness is passed to those that put them into office.

You are correct on both counts, but it's also "Real Dumb" to vote on and pass a bill without reading it. I don't care if you are up against a deadline. It's up to the elected officials that bring the bill to the floor for a vote, to do so in a timely manner. If they don't have time to read it, they don't have time to vote. "No Tickey, No Washey"

I have had many wet cow tails across the face when milking. Like you said, wipe it off and keep on milking. Never hurt me any.
You guys that have had dairy cows know what happens when a herd has winter diarrhea.LOL!
