All, Just pulled the rest of the ham off the bone for a good pot of split pea soup, with carrot, onion, and celery(celery was about to get tossed). By the way, there's lots of other farmners that I need to thank every day, but today the ham bone, peas, onions, and carrots get the nod. House smells good, too! D. |

| | We had ham, sweet potatoes and green bean casserole for Christmas dinner. Over the next 10 days, we ate the remaining ham, but I saved the bone with lots of meat on it. I'll take the bone and make homemade soup, but not split pea. Served over or with cornbread - YUM! |

| When I get close to the end of a ham I cut it in small pieces,( half inch or so) and freeze it. I use it to season pinto beans. I like split pea soup, but it takes so long to split all those little peas! LOL |

| My wife always puts a can of cream style corn in her cornbread to keep it moist and tastes real good. |
