workin the holiday

Anyone else hate working holidays? Have to pickup a load at Georgia Pacific in Ms. but the guy Inspecting the trailers is REALLY unhappy to be working. He rejected the first trailer because it was wet, well it's raining like "a cow making water on a flat rock", so if you open the doors it will get wet inside. Rejected the second trailer for a 3" crease in the side from a bump with another trailer, no tears or cracks, just a crease. I doubt you can find a month old trailer without some mark. So back for a 3rd trailer. Oh, it's 25 miles each way for these trailers. So far into it 5 1/2 hours.

It's no big deal. I get tired of sitting around. I hauled 92 round bales home out of a fencerow yesterday, cleaned both feedlots and bedded cattle today.

I don't expect your post is intended to be humorous, but the inspector "REALLY unhappy to be working" faused me to chuckle. I'm sorry for your diffculties. Thank you for being a responsible bill-paying American. Be safe. Get enough sleep. Thank you for making our lives more convenient.

Too bad your relatives/house guests aren't still with you. You could be spending a little quality time with them...

Being stuck working in agriculture for the last 22 years I haven't had a holiday off. Worked 365 days year around. Today I went out and fed one bunch of cows, wirebrushed the slag off a small welding project I am working on, came in and sat down for a minute and ate and started cleaning house which hasn't been done since last February when I stained some walls and painted the ceiling. Living with several indoor kittys let's just say it was getting to where you couldn't see the carpet for the fur. Don't think it will stay clean too long, I see one laying where I just vacuumed. Oh,well, they seem to love me and I love the little guys.

It is funny, and not a problem that you found it so. Wouldn't have posted bout it if I had been really mad. lol

I'd have been out there digging post holes through the frost to get out of the house if they were still here.

I just spent the afternoon wrenching on broken down equipment again. At least I was in the shed out of the wind! LOL

Jon,
You gotta start hauling your own trailer, so you don't have to put up with all those derelicts in the fleet yard. LoL. A nice shiney trailer with murals on each side of a 1031 and 6B plow rolling corn stalks in a corn field would look real pretty.
Have a good one,
Loren

Everyone in the house is felling a little crummy today, so the most I did was a couple sink loads of dishes. Yesterday I worked 10 hours and I'll do the same the next 2 days. Friday is up in the air how long I'll be working. A lot at this point depends on when my car parts come in so I can get my car out of the shop and quit irritating my boss with it....

Worse than working on a holiday was the afternoon before the holiday. Always had plans for the time off, but some customer would call with a problem just before quitting time. Guess who usually ended up getting in the truck, driving for 4-8 hours, then trying to fix the customers problem. Meanwhile the rest of my family was expecting to have me home. Got to where I hated holidays!

whats the big deal? I went to work and took a rock shaft cover off of a Kubota, fixed some other stuff then went home, sorted some cows and hauled a load in so quit whining. You must not woork that hard as you are on here 24/7.

I wasn't whining about me working, I chose to work and didn't mind that. I was however, whining about the other people, and I suppose some don't have a choice about which days they work, who will ruin my day just because they are having a bad day. I apologise for whining tho.

Excellent idea Loren, and don't think that thought hasn't crossed my mind. lol. 2 payments left.
