What was your most memorable New Year's Eve?

Mine was 1958. I was in a Marine Corps jet fighter squadron deployed to a Nationalist Chinese Air Force Base near PingTung, Taiwan.

The officers and Staff NCO's of our unit were invited to a New Year's Eve party at the Nationalist Chinese Air Force Officer's Club in PingTung. The Chinese celebrate New Year's with fireworks, and there were so many fireworks going off in the club that they had to stop the dance several times to sweep the debris from fireworks off the dance floor.

At one point, I left the club and went a couple of blocks down the street to reload on fireworks. From a block away, it sounded like a full scale firefight was going on in the club.

Never will forget that one.

Would you believe I forgot LOL . Been to man time when I had one to many or one to few. Sort of like that old Emerson, Lake and Palmer song show me the way to go home. If you know the song you understand if you don't then you will not under stand

Mine was 199/2000. I was in computers at the time for a major company that is a supermarket to the world.
I didn't think it was going to be a big deal, but we set the dates back on computers that didn't have to have current license. It was the inbound and outbound scales and production scales that were the problem. I was on call all night. No point in celebration.

About a dozen years back we attended a midnight church service and all took communion together at the stroke of midnight. A good way to start the year.

jan 1 1985 tall kid was born.
his mom was up most of the night mean while a full scale blizzard was going on 10plus inches of snow.
we went to hospital in ambulance. as we couldn't there in the car snow drift above trunck of car.

1970 and 1971 I was stationed in Germany and at midnight all the parties stopped and everyone crowded into the street where all the church bells were ringing and the parties contunied as one big party. Those church bells is something to remember. Usually had a head ache next day but don't know if it was from the bells or what

about 1979..1st wife and i stayed in bed for nearly 40 hrs../couldnt touch it with a powder pufffor days afterwards

The only one I really remember, was in 1967 while in the Navy, and stationed at Iwakuni Marine air base. In the EM Club with friends. The only way I remember, is I have a picture with the table top covered with beer bottles. So I must have had a memorible time. Now it's just going to bed at the same time as always, but I feel just fine in the morning. Stan

New Years party at Singerly Fire Company in Elkton, Md., 1975. Can't remember much other than going for 'beggs and acon' about four or five in the morning, but woke up on the 3rd with a one week hangover.....

New years 1973. I flew a Delta Wing ski kite over the Cumberland River in Clarksville Tn with 600 ft of rope. The temperature was 14 degrees. Had a big writeup in the local paper the next day.

Show me the way to go home.
I'm tired and I wanna go to bed.
I had a little drink bout an hour ago.
And It went right to my head.
Wherever you may roam.
On land or sea or foam.
You will always hear me singing this song
Show me the way to go home

I used to play that song in the auction, testing out the pianos.
Used to make a buck a tune, plus all the change the customers threw on the floor.
My little candy sack full of dollar bills and change would probably equal a drafting electrical engineer at Guide Lamp at that time.
Yep I remember it.

1968/1969 I was to report to Butte Mt for my Army induction on the 2nd so I partied hearty all night long. Then on the way home I ditched Dads pickup in a snow bank. Friend picked me up and got me home. Got my brother outa bed to go retriev the pickup. Walked in the house as Mom was laying out breakfast. Dad loaded my hungover self on the Greyhound in Billings and off I went.

Old well if you call 1976 old yes. I saw them in concert 3 times around that year and that was the last song they played at each of those concerts The town was New Haven CT. That was back when I was stationed in Groton CT at the sub base. One of my favorite singing groups as a matter of fast. They also did father Christmas in those concerts and Brain salad surgery and of course a number if others

I saw ELP in concert 3 times back in 1976 give or take a year or so. That tune was what they played as the last song at all 3 concerts. I was stationed at Groton CT sub base back then and the concert was in New Haven CT. The part of land, sea or form was pretty much what I was doing at that time also since I was in the Navy at the time so I did all 3 LOL
