ha ha ha . They have your name, they have your address, they have your ss number. You really dont think they cant check your bank account? Heres a news flash, you have enough money in your account your BANKER has to report it for you!! Your not divulging anything they dont know or cant find out. All they have to do is look at last years tax forms. Just saves the taxpayer money by you doing it instead of another clerk on the gov payroll. All kinds of info comes from the ag reports, how folks are impacted by droughts, floods etc. How many cattle are on hand. How many acres of what crops are planted etc etc. All sorts of things and some of them directly impact national security. Dont fill it out if you dont want to,but if you think your in some way hiding something from them by not doing so,your fooling yourself. Walk into the local fsa office, they can tell you exactly how many acres you farm even if they have never been on your place or youve never met them. Probably could tell you what color nightgown your wife wears if they wanted to,because its nearly all checked by satelite photography these days. LOL. I dont mind filling them out, makes no difference whatsoever. And i like reading the ag reports. Somewhere around here i have the first one ever published. but they dont tell you anything you could use for or against anyone. And you CAN use them to track trends in markets etc. Knowing for instance how many cattle have gone to market in an area due to folks selling off because of the drought ,you may want to hold some more heifers and haul them to another market when rains crank up again. Knowing what area averages 29 ba wheat or another that produces 50 might be handy to know if your looking to re-locate. Thats what these are for, they are not some insideous plan by a gov agency. If they want to do that they dont normaly send you a letter telling you so!
