Maybe next year he'll be big enough for sleigh duty....

Went out tonite, no deer again! Tracks and areas of snow dug up to forage grass, but no deer. Think they've turned nocturnal. 'Course all that are left are those who survived the hunting seasons, so were probably pretty crafty to begin with.... (Michigan's extended doe season on till Jan 1.)

He looks big enough for freezer duty right now. . .

As for the lack of deer that many are talking about- reminds me of my favorite country music line, from Randy Travis- "Since my phone still ain't ringin', I assume it still ain't you. . ."

Saw a nice 12 point buck before our season. Thick base, 8 to 10 inch tall points with a 18 to 24 inch spread.

During our season I never saw him.

Guess what I saw today when I was out and about.

Dirty rascal. Maybe he'll give me a chance next year.

Come to SD. I watch at least 15-20 every evening out the FR window. No more than 200 yards. 3rd rut is going on and the bucks are out at 4pm

Had to know if you ever had one of these shots? Wife tried to set up new game camera. While it was laying on the table, she moved in front of it, and . . .well, you see what.

They sure are amazing, aren't they? We knew of 4 whoppers hanging in our area, saw 2 of them during bow season.

Gun season rolls round and we get a nice 10 pt that we were unfamiliar with and never had seen before......last week, two of the big guys show up one evening in my cut corn field.....

That's why I always look forward to next season.....

Ray:

They're probably all hiding out, in someones barn. Many, many years ago when I lived in Cali. I knew an old guy that liked having the critters around his place and he would feed them (no, he didn't hunt) and he would deliberately leave his barn doors open at night just so the critters could go inside and feed and be out of the weather. These were NOT tame deer, but if you moved slowly they would let you get within about 10 feet of them. I always thought that was way too close to those SHARP antlers, but they never tried to hurt us.
