Here in North-East Iowa we where down around 5-6 degrees last night. Just alight breeze so it really does not feel too cold. It will be cloudy today so the temperature will top out in the low to mid twenties. Should be like this for the next ten days or so. Real small front coming through Friday but not much expected out of it.

Really pretty good weather for the winter here. The livestock will do pretty good if it stays this way. Just a little extra feed for the cold but will not go through the bedding like I would if we got a lot of snow or rain.

We really need some rain but it would do little good now the ground is frozen. So will have to hope late winter rains come and help us out.

We go a much needed 1 1/2 inch of rain then about 3 inch of snow yesterday, dropped to about 20 and windy, some small drifts but highways are in pretty good shape.

We had some rain as 2 cold fronts moved through and continued south. Then turned to snow as tornados and destructive and deadly storms formed to the south and east. 2 deaths and numerous injuries, much property damage, power outages, not here but to the south and east. Here it let up about dark, was suppose to get to 17 deg. but only got to 25 or so. Still windy putting wind chills very low. Sun is out this morning looks like it will be a nice day here.........East Texas between Canton and Athens, Texas.

Rainy, sloppy, muddy everywhere on my farm in the southern part of Middle Tennessee. Temperatures have been in the 20s at night and in the high 30s or low 40s during the day.

Raining lightly right now with a possibility of snow showers later today.

Really messy outside.

Tom in TN

Bullitt County/Nelson County line in Kentucky, (close to High Grove) Currently 32 degrees, raining, with some sleet mixed in. Just north it's snowing heavy. We got 1-1/2 of rain last night, along with 40mph+ wind. Temps dropping towards evening, rain turning to freezing rain, then snow. Total (snow) accumulation here expected to be around 1" to 2". Further north, up to 14" of the white stuff.

It's winter, what did you expect....?

Had about three inches of light snow Christmas Eve on bare ground. Frigid cold yesterday most all day. Sun came out later but didn't warm. Cloudy again this morning. Planing on staying inside today. North east Co.

Charleston SC. 67 thunder and lightning, rain and tornado watch. Other than that it is lovely.
Ron

Eastern Nebraska, about zero with maybe 6" of snow on the ground. Supposed to be in the upper teens today with a warming trend over the next few days.

Dang deer have been pawing through the snow on our lawn to get at the grass underneat.

S.E. Indiana , We are getting hamered with snow . about 4-5" and very windy . calling for 9-10"

We got rain most of the night in W SC. Already had 1/2 inch in rain gauge, this AM had 3.2 inches. 5.5 inches for Dec, had almost none in Nov and Oct. Supposed to be windy today, was not windy during rain.

28 degrees and cloudy at Grand Blanc Mi.
We are just on the Northern edge of the storm hitting Ohio,Indiana, and Southern Mi. today.
We are suppose to get 1-3 inches this afternoon and tonight.
Got the snowblower ready but I'm probably not going to bother to put it on. I've been able to cleanup what little snow we have got in the last year with just the front-end loader. I haven't used either rear blade I have in a few years either.

17° and cloudy here in west central Texas, near Abilene. High supposed to be 30°. Yesterday morning we got maybe a ½ in of the white stuff but no rain.

NE corner of NYS: 0* at sunup,11* at9:55 AM,clear and calm.Winter storm warning for 7:00 PM today through 7:00 AM tomorrow.

SE Ohio. Started out as sleet early this morning, now all rain. Cows are able to get into the barns if they want to. Feeders are full of hay and I'm staying in the dry and keeping the wood fires burning. Its getting real muddy out there and so I am hoping for a freeze up this winter.

Mid Michigan,26 degrees, but a stiff cold northeast wind. Kinda misting a little bit of fine snow. The storm is supposed to miss us. None on the ground to speak of.

Whipholt, Mn currently 3deg.F was -9 at bed time and warmed up to -3 @ sun-up. Heavy Clouds 4" old snow on the ground none in forecast. 100% chance of inside work today (honey-do list)

Just started snowing near Gettysburg, PA. Forecast does not call for much here, but it is getting started earlier than they were predicting so who knows. I know I have grown to really hate snow. We had a wet sticky inch or so Christmas Eve and that would have been enough for me for the season. It did look nice waking up to it on all the trees in the morning.

central nm, here cold and high thin clouds, the mountain [ 12,000 ft got 4 inches of snow in the last couple days but we got a thin layer of ice down in the valley

Western Manitoba Canada, -25F right now, thankfully not a breath of wind, over cast forecast high -4F... we"ll wait and see

not fed cows yet, they"re still out on pasture, i"ll have coffee and then get at it

Wednesday, the 26th, @ 10:22 a.m.. A bit east of Pittsburgh PA.
Was sleeting/ raining a little bit ago. Now snow from the east, wait north, wait west, wait straight down now. Big fluffy flakes, wait fine powder, you get the idea. About 32ish. they, NOAA, are predicting 3 to 7 inches.
Kubota got all the fluids topped off yesterday. Snowblower fired up and ready.
Farmall H tucked safely away in rear bay of garage.
Hey, I love my H, but the little Kubota 3200 moves my snow!
Dave

Callaway county Missouri

23 degrees light wind out of the north and sunny

still have patchy snow on the ground from last week

-paul

It was nice the past few days other than the rain with temps in the 70's but the front has come threw. We are now at 44 with a feel like temp of 37 because the wind is blowing 20 mph.
Suppose to be in the mid 50's today and back up to near 70 by Friday when the next front comes threw with a 60% chance of rain.
Typical winter weather for us in SE La.

Here in central Ga,4" of rain in the past three weeks-----MUCH NEEDED! Temps around 60-65 during the day and mid 30-to40 at night.Thank god for the rain,we were getting very dry in the subsoil.

Ulen, MN. West central part of the state. NE of Fargo. 1°F above. Sunny and no wind. Bout 6" of snow on the ground. Nice day.

Here in the Albany NY area, it is about 22 and clear. We have only had an inch or snow for the season. Maybe we'll get some snow tonight.

Southern Illinois, 30 miles southest of St. Louis. Dusting of snow, ground only partialy covered. overcast and 30 MPH winds

Southern Indiana 9 inch of snow and blowing probably 30mph cold plowed snow a little this morning and it was drifting right back shut put up the snow pusher untill the wind stops......

30 miles west of downtown Minneapolis. 2 above, dead calm, partly sunny, 2 or 3 inches of snow on the ground left from that 15 inch blaster about two weeks ago, dryer than a popcorn ball. We are going to need a LOT of water in the spring to be ok, wish you all a great new year!!

6 to 8 inches plus ice expected here in central Pa.(Lewistown-Mifflintown area) with some wind mixed in to top it off.

Eastern NY, along NY 7, about 25 miles west of Bennington, VT, and say 10 miles north of Albany, was 18 or less degrees F, this morning, light snow coating, from the dusting yesterday.

Apparently we have snow in the forecast, headed to the other place briefly, they're ready, I will be when I get home.

Partly cloudy, 20's so far, ground might have started to freeze for the first time, seems to get later and later, but 2010-2011, was just like most winters we used to get, ground froze in November.

I had to go to the highest area on this land yesterday, nice afternoon hike to the 11 acre woodlot, to see what those high winds did, I now have a bunch of logs to haul in, darned logger in '98 skinned a whole bunch of trees at the bottom, and was the opposite side of the winds we don't normally get from the east, you can tell what that sloppy work does to a tree, that storm that went through the midwest last week and we got some high winds, dropped a lot of trees in this area, saw some at my friends farm all pointed the same way. After looking at the trees in that woodlot and ones that broke, I really have no use for sloppy loggers, they can easily cause large amounts of damage and this type of logger has no respect for a woodlot that does this, long story on what happened, but the consolation is the logs down I suppose, bad place to be in high winds that is for sure. Latest and greatest from this patch of land LOL !

South central Nebraska, thermometer on the PU. said -9, while unloading water for the cows. No wind to speak of.

As I've said on here before, weather is such an integral part of our tractor lives that it deserves it's own forum!
Here in central NY we had over 4" rain in the first three weeks of Dec. so, as usual, we're back to being too wet. It did cool off just enough to get a little snow cover for Christmas. It looks like the storm that gave the Howell's much needed moisture is going to get us now.

NE In. started snowing about an hour ago better run to the store and get bread, milk, doritos, mountain dew and red bull for homemade yeagerbombs. We're off work till after the first of the year so at least I don't have to deal with that dick Randy.

Probably not a good day to set up a tiki bar.

some snow 18 miles sw of louisville ky .east wind .wet nasty weather perfect for making anyone catch a death of cold ,.. cows are able to come to the barn but are staying up in the cedar thiket

It's a beautiful day in central New England. I guess I'm the only one so far to weigh in from these parts. Had 3" of snow yesterday so the ground is white. Do errands today. Tomorrow, big snow storm.

NW Wash a littlesnow yesterday for a white Christmas. Today it's a normal NW WA winter- high 30's wet,grey,cloudy-kinda depressing:)!

Some years back I bought a neighboring farm. I was desperate for money. Another neighbor, who had woods contiguous with what I just bought, wanted my woods for hunting. So with all in agreement, I hired a good local logger to log the woods, then sold those 18 acres to the neighbor, for a reasonable price. He cried and moaned the whole time. Then, a couple years later, he hired a local butcher to scour the woods! When I told the original logger he about cried. He said if we had known, he could/would have taken out a lot more.

We got down to 19 degrees last night. Were gonna get some snow tonight, first real snowfall of the winter for us sounds like. I'm in eastern NY about 2 hours north of NYC.

I'm visiting my son in se PA. Had about 2" snow Christmas eve then most of it melted Christmas day. Now temp is 28, and wind blowing and it is snowing pretty good. We won't be going back to sw PA until tomorrow or maybe Fri. They are calling for a wintry mix in the mountains of central PA today and tomorrow. Nice to be retired, I don't really have to get anywhere.
Phil

Single digits/low teens in western CO.Overcast/foggy but the sun is 'peeking'out.2-3" snow on Christmas Eve.Mountain snowpack is WAY down-critical.If we dont get (major) snow,we are in TROUBLE.The forecast is bleak...

We have freezing rain/sleet here in Central Ohio, supposed to turn into snow this afternoon.

Northern Maryland, snowing to beat the band. Supposed to change to heavy rain later this afternoon.

Got down in the 20s here at the Lake of the Ozarks in Missouri. Gust of wind up and over 40MPH and dry as a popcorn fart

SW Washington- actually had a little snow on Christmas morning, but very sloppy, and gone by noon. Now back to normal- 40 degrees, grey and cloudy, rain off and on. Lots of snow in the mountains. 6 or 7 inches of rain in December already.

Supposed to get drier later this week and on into next week. Need it to dry off so I can mow the lawn- its getting pretty shaggy!

-31C right now in Faro Yukon Canada. But for the next couple weeks it is supposed to be just below freezing. My kids told me it was warmer here yesterday than it was in Iowa where they are. Yes I know that people think we are crazy for going north in the winter but where we are it is often warmer here than in Iowa because of the jet stream coming off the Pacific ocean. A couple nights ago we saw northern lites that went from one horizon to the other horizon. WOW. But come spring we will go back to Iowa to deal with our farms. Gerald

Here on the East Coast of Missouri (Cape Girardeau County) we got 4" of snow and high wind. about 30* now going to about 33* this afternoon. Glad we didn't get the 8 to 12" that was forecast for us but the storm tracked south and east of us. Tom

South central Va.,34 deg. and much needed rain. Little windy right now. 40 miles north and they have sleet and freezing rain.

Going to see if I can get the chisel plow in the ground after this one passes. Been trying since Sept. and can't get it in the ground. All ponds and lakes are very low from this fall drought. Looking for more moisture Sat. so maybe the drought is over for now.

Great Falls, MT--it was -6 when I got up around 6:00 A.M. with a dusting of fresh snow after the paper carrier came by. It has cleared off and it's supposed to hit 20 later today.

Asheboro, NC. (central NC) 12:00 noon, temp. 43 degrees, been raining since about midnight. Went out to get the paper about 10:00 and rain gauge had an inch in it. (not counting the dust that had settled in the bottom), breezy. Supposed to move on out and tomorrow is forecast to be sunshine with about 50 degrees.

Westside Indianapolis in a blizzard. First one in almost 35 years. Airport is past 8 inches. I would guess we have 5 to 6. Hard to tell since it is blowing hard.

East Central Minnesota right about 0 this morning, little to no wind, a little cloudy at first with flurries, but now at 11:00 bright sun.

Overcast and threatening more snow here in the Southern Oregon mountains. About 6 feet in the last week. Probly settled out to 5-6 feet total base. Good start on our water year.
Headed home today. I'd guess there's some snow down there.

Ben

Guys, Clear, Dry, No moisture of any kind, In the middle of a heat wave @ 30* started of at 25* at Daylight this am. Where... Central Texas, 25 miles S. of Lampasas, Tx.OBTW,,, Gonna Sun Bath later this PM. LOL!

We are in west central Arkansas, about 40 miles east of Ft Smith. 30 degrees and 9 inches of snow. We don't get much snow here. Probably most will be gone by tomorrow afternoon. It is 11 am now.

Delaware, Ohio...4+" and just getting started, they say..25mph wind...not bad..just West of us, are Blizzard warnings all the way yo Lake Erie...

Hope everyone is having a Merry Christmas...!!

Ron..

Here in Western Montana it"s 24°F and we have about 6-8 inches of snow at our place with about 1.2" of new snow overnight.

Middle Tenn Cloudy, rain snow mix at 36 deg for the first part of the day but has stopped now. Light wind out of the North makes it a bit nippy but could be worse.. Highs in the 40/50s and lows in the 30 for the next few days.

West.NC still hanging in the low 40"s. Seems the worst of the rain has past but still drizzly. Low pressure system still has to get past here to start clearing. 3/4" to 1" of rain. Came down pretty hard part of last night. Expect flooding in some areas.

Central Michigan: Cloudy, light snow, very light. Temps in the low 20's. Further south, they're starting to get a little- maybe a lot of snow, with the storm coming out of the south, headed for the east coast. Going to be a glansing bliw for Michigan.
Son is traveling in central Pennsylvania, says a couple inches of snow - going is a little slow. He left here at 4am, headed for New Jersey, hoping to outrun the storm, guess it caught up with him.

We"re here in E. WA just NW of Spokane. Been having snow off & on. We had 5 inches of snow the other day, so had to plow out the 1/2 mile driveway. There is probably about 12 inches on the ground right now. Temp. this morning was 28. Overcast day & no snow in the forecast for this week.

Hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! Best wishes for a prosperous 2013.

East central Ga. The wind is blowing so hard, it blew a neighbor's rooster in a milk jug last night.

NE Arkansas we got 12" of snow last night. The temps aren't that bad but are supposed to dip into the teens the next couple of nights. We had the first blizzard warning that has ever been issued by the NWS for our area. We need the moisture.

I live SE of Spokane at about 2500 feet of elevation. We get lots more snow than Spokane does, at least most of the time.

So far it has been a pretty mild Winter season. We got about 6" of new snow on the 22nd and I plowed my driveway for the first time this season. Unfortunately in doing the plowing, my hydraulic pump on the Ford 641D decided to start leaking, so I will have to work on that today. It always pops the same gasket--I have been considering making a better gasket out of copper sheet, which would take some time and effort, but which might make that stupid hydraulic pump reliable. GRRR

Had a nice Christmas, and the last of the guests will go home today. Will be good to get back to routine.

What town do you live close to? I live fairly close to Freeman. Have a good one, hope we don"t get too much snow all at once, but keep getting small amounts that melt down fairly quickly.

Picked up 2" of snow since it started about 11am, and windy. roads not too good, sure hope kids get home OK. They left early because of the weather. 28F, looks like that'll be the high for today. Spent the morning playing in the snow splitting firewood.

West central, Ohio, Logan County. Have somewhere near 8 inches of snow, hard to tell with the wind blowing some areas bare and 3 foot drifts in other areas. Started about 8:00am. 28 drgrees, so snow really blows and drifts.

Put the chains on the little Case 222 with the snowblower, adjusted the blower clutch and have gas in the barn to clear the drifts when the wind dies down. Been a chore keeping the wood stove supplied with wood.

Gene

Lots on snow and freezing rain. Plus about 10 MPH winds with gust up to 25. I was just hunting and man was it cold. This is in New Florence, PA (SW PA)

Real bad in North West Pa. started round 12:00 pm, Had to go pick up a Amish work crew 1/2 hr trip took 3 hrs. Been stuck, Waited at the bottom of a hill for them to get a big rig unstuck 1/2 way up the hill. All roads are 4,5" snow coverd with ice under the snow, Looks like I-79 was a little better than the others.

I do not know what it is, and to be fair I will say, "some of these guys" (loggers) should not be cutting trees and doing any forestry work period. Some of them have no ability, and lack any concern for a stand of woods. Its fine to harvest, thin or what have you, but when you tow the logs out, don't damage the base of other good trees, like at my place, tall straight logs, cripes, use something to temporarily protect the standing ones if you must rub into them, say old conveyor belting, tires, short oversize culvert, cripes guys don't be so lazy, or short sighted and do the right thing, but no just asking to much for that, now he must have damaged a dozen in just a small area, the same way from towing, now they are breaking off, even though they look fine, wind will sort them all out eventually. Some of these guys steal, like its their right. They stole neighboring trees over the property line here.

People like these, I have an utter disdain for, it was a shame they were allowed in here, to a pristine stand of older maple, some oak, mostly maple, some others mixed in here and there. I can live with ruts, I can live with some clean up and what have you, but being a slob and damaging valuable trees that do not grow overnight is what ticked me off. Back then, I really had no say, did not own it, my father whom I differ with on handling things, me, I'd had a forestry guy in there, mark out, quantify, what have you, old man was tight on cash, taxes or last of mortgage due, could have lost it, fine have to log something like this our only stand of trees this size, do it right, nope... just let em in and do as they please, I threw them out and the guy knows I cannot stand him every time I see him I remind him of what a slob and half a$$ logger he thinks he is. I just do not like what they do and what it causes, the darned woods are a lot more unsafe because of what they did and I will end up with trees becoming firewood instead of mill or veneer logs, ok rant over now LOL !!!!!!!!!

Depends on the wind direction. The past few years east winds that used to be considered a freak occurance happen at least weekly.
Lake view but 233ft above lake level and five miles inland.
The shore road 23 and 33 are the last to close and have the best visibility. Moving inland the snow deposits increase. They don"t call highway 21 Ontario"s part time road for nothing. Highway 21 usually closes due to drifting and poor visibility but accumulation is minimal in open fields. The high wind speed carries the snow until it drifts.
Inland highway 4/ county 20/ London Road closes due to sheer depth of snow accumulation.
Being this close to the lame adds 20-30 more frost free days compared to 20 miles inland.

N.E. Tx. Rained most of the day yesterday, then switched to snow around 4:00. Got about 6 inches. Still cold for this area, 31 right now.

See James' post above.

Crisp and cool here in NE Ks today, high around 24 with a north northeast breeze 5-10 most of the day. Forecast is for a slight warming trend with highs in the mid 30's for the next 10 days. The only forecasted moisture is a 20% chance for rain or snow Monday.

We've got around 2" and if it lets up tonight, should be good tracking. I can hear music--beagle music. I think they're predicting low 20s overnight. Michigan, 25 miles SW of Grand Rapids.

Larry

5 degrees celcius in Northern Ireland and wet with plenty of gusty wind....though that might be from the Brussel sprouts and turkey?????
Sam

Smoothdeere, looks like we might be close. I live about 18 mile northwest of Gene up just in Auglaize county and belong to the Logan co. machinery club.

Just a lite mist that froze on the windows ystd. Nothing today , other than a cold north wind and cloudy. In one word: Nasty. Middle OK. clint

I know the name but personally I cannot put a face to the name but then I have always had problems with remembering names and faces.

right now in south east indiana we got apx 10 inches of snow some blowing and apx 30 deg at this time. sunny thursday and 32 deg.

80"s here in the West Indies. Christmas and tropics just don"t mix well. Our neighborhood park has Christmas lights on mango trees.

Central MD, Had nothing on the ground this morning at 8, at 11:30, had an inch of slush, and my arse on the ground. More rain washed the slush away by 6PM. Guess we had at least an inch of rain, after the inch of slush. Temps low to mid 30's.

Don't have many now as no longer farming. Not enough acreage to justify and at 69 and with my health I actually could not do it anymore. Just a 44 2N Ford dad bought new and use it all the time around the home. Have a 41 9N that was tore down for a knock before the 05 ice storm and never got back to working on it again. Only got power back to shop this past summer. When farming over the years I had 38 A, 46 B, 49 B, 50 AR and 51 A Deere, TO 30 Ferguson, NAA Ford, 4000 & 5000 Fords, Farmal H 1941 and a 44 MM U. I just barly remember the 10-20 McCormick and do not remember the 1926 Fordson at all as it was already gone when I came around.

South East Arizona. Dec. 27. got to 55* High black clouds moving fast to the East. Got to 26* last night. Took grandson for a walk in the desert so he could shoot his new Henry 22 rifle. Got two grandsons one. I want One!!!
