cable connection question

On a model 102 Cub Cadet lawn tractor with 10 hp Kohler motor and has a combination starter/generator (meaning that is all one unit)…
What terminal does the positive battery cable hook up to? One terminal is marked F and one is marked A.

Thanks if you can help.

We don't have a book on it... and just had motor & starter/generator overhauled - and the guy painted over my husband's markings on the starter/generator.

Sweet I had a CCO several years back with the same set up. I am pretty sure the positive hooks to A (armature). F would be field which should be the negative side. Wait for other responses though.

Sweetfeet: Here are two different wiring diagrams for a starter/generator setup. Do not worry about the one that says Tecumseh. Kohler used the same setup on the ones with a light circuit.

SweetFeet, you might want to go "downstairs" to the Garden Tractor forum and try there also. There are some that hang out down there that work on garden tractors. Just a thought.

If it's a Delco Remy like I have on my Wards G/S the postive cable goes on the (A) terminal. I have my hour meter connected on that post too since it only has voltage when the engine is running. Hal

My grandfather had an older wards mower like yours, but I am pretty sure his had a three point hitch.I remember thinking it was neat to see a little tractor like that with a three point hitch.
