The Shop I Found

I posted on a small tractor and equipment repair shop I found in Kentucky that I took my 8N ford to and had the clutch replaced. Lot of folks here questioned the labor charge. The man is old and only charges what he thinks is fair for some one to pay. He said he would charge his normal rate of $22.00 per hour. I questioned the bill also when I seen how low it was. But he dose stay busy. Seen a hay baler that was rusted bad that a guy bought at a sale he was getting welded up look real good!

Those are getting few and far between. An old guy, lifetime mechanic, with a shop near here rebuilt the carb. on an old engine I have, now it runs like a top. He hardly charged anything, I added a "tip".

My uncle runs a shop. All the broken down ag machinery for miles around comes to his place. Years back he converted my B Allis to 12 volt. Completely re-wired the tractor and fabricated a bracket for the alternator he painstakingly dismantled to get the correct pulley on. Charged me $35 and apologized while doing it, saying, "parts are so high these days". I made him take $50 and still felt bad. Best thing you can do for guys like that is stop in and say "hi" once in awhile, send em a Christmas card, and bring them some more work-it"s what they really love.
