How best to delay the frost?

I'm hauling dirt with a tractor and scraper on a two acre area and the cold temps are coming. Is it better to disk or chisel the area to be cut each night or leave it and try to cut through the morning's frost? I don't have a frost bit on the scraper. Today I sprung a leak on a hyd. cylinder. The newer tractor must have more hyd. pressure than the older one!

Opinion: if clay and clods are OK to move, disk it up.
If clay and clods are not OK the frost will not be an issue until it is 2 or three inches deep if your scraper is sharp and heavy. A sub soiler will rip it up if it gets more than 3 or 4 inches deep (assumes a 70 or bigger tractor and down pressure on the sub soiler. If sandy it should move pretty well till the frost is 3 or 4 inches. Jim

I guessed that the loose dirt may help insulate it some. Got the scraper repaired today and ready to test my welds in the morning. Thanks for the advice.
