O/T Stupid Criminals.........

A 19 year old girl from Stromsburg, NE (about 40 miles from me) stole a car in Stromsburg, drove about 20 miles to Waco, NE and used a pistol to stick up the bank for $6,000.

She then posted a video of herself on Facebook bragging about it.

When they arrested her, she was still wearing the same clothes as in her Facebook video and the bank's security camera.

Very experienced lawyer here says that's the reeason they always get caught; too stupid.

Anybody else noticed that the up turn in dumb crook stories started when drug use increased?

It has appeared as a pattern to me that C-store robbers, drug dealers, and the like are often caught after a short time because of routine traffic stops due to vehicle or driving problems, unrelated to the major crime.

We just HAD one here in Cedar Rapids . 2am , car chase ,she stopped , got out , showed a gun , cops shot her dead . 3rd felony, violating probation. 27 yrs old . Now folks are up in arms because she was shot dead ,instead of just wounding her ,lmao ..this ain"t the movies

That happens all the time in Brayn Texas. Stupid criminals are everywhere over there. Last one caught. Had 75.000 in drugs and cash plus weapons. Ran a stop sign.

One while being booked into jail. Said he was going to kill the arresting officer.

Bryan, it is hard to believe that someone would have 3 felonies by 27. I fully support the police, and think this might help to deter some of the resistance they get. When the police say "get your hands up", you just do it.

We see that all the time here in Nebraska.

I-80 goes through my county, and is the main route for drugs from the west coast to the east coast, and drug money from the east coast back to the west coast. I boggles the mind how stupid some of these "mules" are.

One bonehead from California recently got busted with a million in meth in his van 'cause he stopped and took a leak in broad daylight on the shoulder of I-80.

It's almost like they WANT to get busted. And it's possible they do. About 20 years ago, a local guy was growing marijuana and had a brother selling it on the west coast. When they got busted, the judge was going to let the guy out on bail. The guy pleaded with the judge not to. He figured he was safer in jail than on the street at that point.

I saw that on the 10/11 news. That girl ain't the brightest in the world....
My wife is from a little, bitty town in Texas and about 6-8 years ago her home town bank was robbed. The robber waited outside of the bank and forced his way into the bank when the first employee of the morning came to unlock the door. The robber got away with about $50,000 and authorities didn't have any suspects whatsoever. About 6 months later, a guy got arrested near Houston for fighting in the middle of the street, basically a disorderly conduct charge. The cops found the money from the bank robbery in his pickup, most of the money still in the paper bonds or the currency straps still attached that had the bank's name printed on the straps. To solve the case, all the Houston cops had to do was call the local authorities and ask if they had some money missing from the local bank. Most of the money was recovered.
If the crook had any smarts at all, he would have only been arrested on a misdemeanor disorderly conduct charge.

Or how about the moron in Fargo ND a few years ago who was driving so bad an under cover cop puled him over.......had a portable meth lab in the back seat.

The number of bank robberies and murders that go unsolved is astounding. Basically the cops hands are tied with admissible evidence rules and the FBI's (fumbling bureau of incompetency) solve rate isn't nearly as high as they would like us to believe.

A good friend had some tools stolen from his truck while working in town. He saw it happen and ran after them but couldn't catch them. Called the police with a description of the kids, the car, and half the license plate number. Police said that would not be enough to find them and never did.

I did misdemeanor "court-appointed" defense for awhile years ago- Most misdemeanors are more "stupid" than "criminal".

My favorite was guys without licenses being pulled over for speeding, broken taillight, etc., then getting popped for driving while suspended. Used to tell them, do a walk-around on your car to make sure everything is up to snuff, then obey the traffic laws, and you can drive virtually forever without a license, in most cases, because there has to be "probable cause" to pull you over. Knew of some who beat the system for many years, but few and far between.

My favorite dumb crook story, we hired a young kid to operate our DAF unit at the rendering plant. The rendering plant aspect is important because when you're hiring people to wade around in chicken guts your applicant pool usually to say the least below average. Our DAF operator decides he needs a little more money and gets the bright idea to steal another employee's pay check and does so. He steals the check of a part time college student who works for us. The student's father is one of the local farmers and happens to crop our spray field and does a lot of dirt work for the company they are also fairly well known in the area. So now our hero has grabbed and additional pay check and committed a felony for the princely sum of about $75.00. Our hero not doing much ground work on his crime decides to be smart and takes the stolen check over to the next town to cash it. Yep walks into the bank in the next town east of the plant and hands the check to a teller and asks to cash it, not knowing the teller he handed the check to is the Aunt of the check's real owner.

The really dumb ones and the ones who keep robbing banks get caught. The ones smart enough to stop after the first bank usually are smart enough to stay off the radar.

Yep, there ya go.

Usually, cop can't stop someone on basis of a tip alone- but can follow the guy until he screws up, then stop him. Then do a search (can search for several reasons, legally- search incident to arrest, or for dangerous weapons to insure officer's safety, or to inventory for impound).
