So I read this article. Am I reading this right. I Have a ford 9N and my left rim rusted out trying to buy a rim but I have a 5 lug rim on there now and on the rim its stamped Ford KH and the tire on rim is a 6.00 by 16". all rims I find for a 9N is like a 2 piece rim. So Will a 5 lug, 16" rim off car or truck work?
I cant find a 9n 5 lug for rim. anywhere but my rim now is stamped ford KH confused. It looks like a car rim.

sounds like a early Ford truck rim...does it have flats stamped where bolt holes are...if so,i have at least one and should have 2 if i can find the other one...post a picture of rim you have.

it looks like the bolt pattern diameter is 5.25" with a .625 diameter thru hole for bolt and the center hole is 3.300 useing calipers

yeah, thats a Ford truck rim...easy to find in 15",not so easy in 16"...mine are 16"...came off a truck my grandfather had...he special ordered rims when he bought truck.
email me if you cant find any local.

Okay thank you, What years should I be looking up to and also thank you for your help and if I cant find locally I will email you.

when looking how wide of rim can I go or does it matter if I have a fatter tire on the front. now it has the 6.00 x 16. we only use tractor to plow snow in winter. We live in Muskegon Mi.
other than that it sits in garage.

probably 40's, 50's,real early 60...i wouldnt go any wider than 6" rim...any wider and you'll have to space rim away from hub.
somebody may correct me,but those hubs prob came off a truck...previous owner may have had a reason to want same wheels on multiple equipment...the correct hubs/wheels are everywhere and cheap.

I've got 2 16" ford truck rims in the shed, one with a truck tire on it and the other is bare. I'd let them go for $10 each. We even have some good used tractor fronts in the shed, a matched pair of (I think) 6.00x16's, and some mis matched 7.50-16's with overspray on them. One set came off my Oliver 1600 when I rebuilt it, the other set came off my brother's Oliver 550 when he rebuilt his.

BCnT has you on the right track.
It's a truck rim and tire, can't go to wide or they'll rub unless spaced or turned backwards.
Original tires were 4 x 19.
You can also get two matching 15 inch rims and use them, or just repair that one.
If they rust out I weld a patch over it and grind it smooth.
If it's around the stem, I patch it shut and drill another hole somewhere else around the rim.
I'm near Ionia, MI, pretty much the same wonderful winters. :)

That is a standard Ford Car rim used 1940 to 1948 and the bolt pattern is a standard 5 1/2" same as just about all 5 lug implement rins, you can get rims to put 14", 15" or 16" tires on there. Go to ant implement parts yard and you will probably find a lot of used ones. The hubs from the 1928 Model A car up to the last Ford car built in 1948 fit the 9-N spindals. I have 1936 to 1939 Ford hubs and wheels on a 41 9N and they are a large hub more like the orignal 19" wheel but 1/4" different in lug bolt spacing, then on a 44 2N I have the 16" conversion rims Dad bought new in about 1946 to replace the 19" as the 6:00 x 16" tire road a lot better on plowed ground than the 4:00 x 19" tire. The 1950 Mercury used that same bolt spacing on a 15" wheel and then the newer Ford trucks use that same size bolt pattern. I have extra of those rims that I do not use but if replacing then go buy a 5 lug rim for a wagon and I think you can get a wider tire on them. Not going out tonight in dark to measure tho.

9Ns were set to use Model A, early 1930s wheels- 19 inch, the post war 8Ns got the post war car and pickup wheels- the 16 inchers. Look for 1946 to 1960 Ford pickup standard wheels in 16 inch meant for the 6.00/6.50/7.00 tires. I think car wheels 1945 to 1950 or so were 15 inch 6.00/6.50 tires and might fit OK- a little later like mid 1950s they were using 7.50 tires and had a bit wider rim. A 9N with later hub and wheels is no surprise, lots of stuff fit earlier just as simple manufacturing economics- and Ford was known for multiple use of stock items on different equipment, the classic was the Ford Tri-Motor airplane with steering wheel from car.
