wifes 05 ford explore and other vehicles broke into today

my wife and here freind were at the olive garder in watertown ny today if any of you know of it and they went inside for 10 minitues to have 2 managers come tell them the the paside front door window broke out along with 5 other employe vehicles. nothing major took from here car just here little hnd bag that had realy nothing in it luckly and nothing else really to be taken. all the other employe cars were slim jimmed and had all ther personals and such stolen. lots of expensive phones purses tablets that stuff. if she hadnt parked in the employe section it wouldnt have happened but what are you gonna do. her little bag had a c ouple checks that needed mailing but we started to take care of that already. at the time this was happening there was a gunman with a maskright across the parking lot at the sammon run mall outside. there were fingerprints taken off the cars and everything. quite and investigation. glad all i have to worry bout is the window and the checks he probly cant cash anyway. our car was the last in the row to be done. hopfully this fing a$$hole gets caught for his bs

Mark in boonville,

Bummer for all involved!

Here are some thoughts I would have if it happened to me:

I would consider talking to your bank to see if they recommend changing your checking account number and/or putting a security PIN on the account. Because now someone has a copy of all your checking account info...plus a sample of either your signature or your wife's.

Also wonder if it would be good to do a stop-payment on those checks too - even though it probably cost at least $25 bucks each. On TV they say criminals can somehow "wash" your checks and then put themselves in as the payee (plus write it for a higher dollar amount).

If they do get caught you end up paying for their lawyer, the police and the judges and they are set free with a reprimand "Don't ever do that again".

thankyou for the suggestion. we did talk to the bank a bit yesterday and today about what to do about it i think we do have it settled now. although i hope nothing more happens. only took 4 hrs today to get a new window put in but appreently the theife bent the door out a little prying on the window.

Just a thought (I get em every now and then)......
Breaking in and stealing a little is a misdemeanor... But, if you was to leave a postal money order for a few bucks in there and the thief cashed it, it'd be a felony with a stronger punishment.... Maybe???

Sorry to hear that Mark, Watertown isn't what it used to be, I'm near Gouverneur. It's either druggies or dependents off Drum.

My wife and I we're looking forward to going to Olive Garden, that's high class for us poor folks. I guess I'll be packing my 38 or 45 from now on.

Don't leave valuables in your car and leave the doors unlocked. I only lock my commuter car when I have my laptop in it. Otherwise, if they want the $20 worth of CDs and other crap in it, then they can have it. Just don't cause $500 worth of damage to my truck getting it.

wow, small world, my daughter and husband live in watertown,ny, she works at the salmon run mall, but took the granddaughter to the e.r. today and is spending the night there with her,
