Modified woods mower L306

The 6 ft woods belly mower on my IH C is actually a corn stock shopper. Grass clippings would come out the left, right, front and back sides of the mower. So, I decided to convert it into a finish mower by cutting the top and bottom off a 55 gallon barrel and screwing them to the mower. Figure if it works well I may tack weld it in place. The ring I showed in the pic was a reject. Didn't realize the iron worms had attacked it.

Tested it out by mulching leafs, works real sweet. I think it works as well or better than the 6 ft woods mower on the back of my Jubilee.

Been thinking of doing this for a long time. Just finally got around to doing this.

Looks good and a nice little idea.
I took the deck off my Woods Zero turn and had to do the same thing. My shrouds were rusted out. I had the local metal shop roll me some 4"x 1/4" flat bar and I welded it to the deck. My deck is made out of 10 gauge metal so I could weld it to it with no problem. Works great now.

You have right hand blades are you turning them right. Your mower should be set so when the blade is forward the tip should be 1 in lower than the back. Those mowers do an excellent job for a finish mower.

Gene, My blades are level with the deck, however when I mow tall grass I'll lift the front of mower and the grass gets cut many times. My blades left hand discharge on the belly mower, L306. My blades are 4 3/4 inches lower than the deck, so I made my shroud 5 3/4 inches. Can't ask for a better mower. Wish I had done this years ago.

On my Jubilee, the rear mount 6 ft woods mower, is a right hand discharge. On this mower, the wheel height can be adjusted with spacers. I have the front wheels 1.5 inches higher thant the rear wheels. If the grass gets away from me, I'll lift the front even higher. The rear mower is set up for 540 pto speed which is close to 1500 RPM's engine speed. The Jubilee can easily crank over 1800 rpm's and the blades are singing in the wind. I normally keep the PTO close to 540.
