OT Tall Ornamental Grass

My wife wanted me to ask if anyone here knows a good way to separate bunches of tall ornamental grass.
Last spring I couldn't use a spade to cut thru the root bundle. I then tried a chainsaw that didn't work very well either. I'm thinking of buying a saw-zall and try that. We have some bunches of grass that need to be thinned down and she wants to try and sell what we cut off the main bundle.
Thanks.

Yep, Dig it up and use an axe....Also the dead grass needs to be cut off every fall (or spring). You can burn it off if its AWAY from buildings etc...but the best way to trim it is with a fine toothed hacksaw....

Tried a hedge trimmer last year--no good! Gonna try a chainsaw this year. Hope I don't fall any of it on me--it could hurt!!

Try a long sharpe knife, that grass is so aggressive, as a landscaper I personally hate that stuff.

I have about 100 cherry bombs drill a hole in the middle light it then stuff it in the run like all "H"

A pick or mattock will get them out of the ground. Place root end on a block of wood and use the axe or tomahawk to separate. Eeeeasy as.
Don't use chain or teeth.
