Is there anyway you can just give them a .30-06 round to the head? Bear season? I wouldnt mind having a bear rug? Just think of the extra cash you could have selling them.

Bear are being seen more frequently here in central Pa. This summer a big bear strolled through an Amish greenhouse, came in one end and walked out the other.
The man who combines my corn and beans bowhunts here. One afternoon he was walking home when he got between a sow and her cub. The mother came out of the corn growling, luckily the cub ran past him toward his mother and they both disappeared back into the corn.

Yep the Bad News Bears! I agree that they are trying to get to the tractor. And the nerve of them all mooning the camera in the first shot. :)

I always call animal control. You usually have to talk to two or three people, they almost always give me permission to shoot varmits, etc. Never have had problems with bears though.

If you are planning on using electric fence, you better have a charger that puts out at least 9 to 10 thousand volts. That is what we use for cows and sometimes that doesn't even stop them. Unless the bear touchs the wire with its nose, I doubt they will even notice it. Think I would put up some chicken wire and light it up so they have to touch it with their paws. Might get their attention.

They have some nerve. Are they sleeping there to? Or just
laying down eating! Next thing you know you'll have 8 of them
there!

Some people just are not as smart as Bears I guess so why
don't you put the corn up out of the reach or in a secure place.
You leave food out like that and you are inviting them in to
dinner.
Walt as Yogi says "I'm just smarter than the average Bear"

Try the peanut butter on aluminum foil looped around the fence wire trick. Theory is that the animal will lick the peanut butter and get the full jolt through his tongue.

Update on the Bear. I ran three strands of wire with a 10,000 volt fencer.
I placed aluminum foil with peanut butter on the wire. At 5:30 tonight the bear were at the garage checking out my jeep. At 8:30 tonight the elec. fence was not disturbed.
I have never had a problem with bear in the past but this year there have been 8 different bear around. One bear has been caught twice before. He has a tag in each ear.
Anybody that had chickens has had problems, notice I said (had), the bear did a job on all the neighbors chickens.

The game commission will give you shot gun shells with rubber pellets to scare the bear off. Seems to me that would just pi$$ the bear off.

If you get a knock on the back door, I advise you not open it. Put up a sign instead. "Goldilocks does not live here, anymore."

The solution to some people only comes out the end of a gun.

Rifle bullet...........To the head I think is the only way to deal with the problem.
Rubber pellets in a shotgun, that aint too smart I think that would just pizz them off.

I am sure that the bears will keep coming back due to the corn being there in the first place. Maybe get a couple of professional hunters in there to get it done.
