I think it depends on how big the windrow is. We've got it's big brother the 892, and this was our first season with it. We only have a 100 HP tractor on the front which is much smaller than it can handle, so it's a matter of ground speed to work the tractor. Is it 540 or 1000? I would think that if the knives are set up properly you should have no problems with even 80 on the front, or less with a smaller windrow. From what I have experienced so far with our 892, they're pretty easy running machines.
The benefit of a smaller than capacity tractor, is it's very hard to plug it up. The tractor bogs down long before you get close to plugging.

| Thanks, they were 540rpm, but I don't think my 56 hp tractor would run one, may as well look for a flail chopper, or cut and chop, my father in law has a gehl one and he runs it on his 56 hp tractor. |
