I would love to have another tractor that is a ps or a pq but I don't a big tractor that you have to get to get the pq or ps. I would like to have a 50 to 80 hp tractor new or old who makes a small pq or ps tractor?

Kubota makes two transmission that might work. One called GST or glide shift is pretty trouble free and then they offer ths hydrostatic thru the 50 hp and comming out in 2013 will go on to 64 hp.

The Kubota 85/89 HP 9540/9599 is available with six speed synchro + dual range + power shift.

What is the smallest Kubota tractor that has the glide shift transmission? I have a 9540 now so I am pretty familiar with Kubota. I 60+ hydro would be pretty nice as well I would think. But then again I have never owned one.

In older tractors, just about everyone made one. Massey with multipower, Deere with hi-lo and even the 4030 with quad range, IH with TA. You get the idea. If you want new, there are always the hydros of just about every manufacturer. Almost all manufacturers ofeer some manner of powershift option if you want to spend the money. You don't need to spend a small fortune for a really good used tractor in the 50-80hp range with some manner of power shift.

I don't think he was referring to something like Multi-Power or the T/A as they aren't the same as a full power shift.

A new holland 6640sle is a 16 speed with 4 speed power shift somewhere handy to 65 pto hp. Kubota glide shifts go down to about 30 hp, with the older ones fully hydraulic and the new ones electronic. MF 5435 could be had with 4 spd power shift and 4 spd power range change. It's about 65 hp too.

John Deere offered tractors such as the 2510, 2520, and 3020 with full powershifts. Any were available as either gas or diesel powered. The collectors are hot on the 2520's so they would not be practical in terms of cost. Probably go with a 2510 or 3020 diesel with powershift which were around 55 and 65 horsepower respectively. Not as snappy as the non-powershift Sychro-Range as the powershift transmission pump eats a few horsepower.

Yeah I am thinking about a 2510 or 3020 they are nice, but I may spend more and get like a 6220.

You're looking at big bucks for a 6220. Probably about 30K in it and something like a 25 or 3020. Another cnadidate that I haven't seen mentioned woud be an IH or Farmall Hydro, such as a 656 or Hydro 70. They're fully hydro and a nice tractor to run, and not overly pricey.

Yeah I have seen some 6220's with 3000 hours or less in the mid 30's I haven't decide on how much I have want to spend yet. The IH hydro are the full power shifts?

We have a JD 4320 Compact 50 hp with a hydro. Little 4 cyl JD motor with a turbo. I love it. The electronic hydro sets just like your pickup. Tap the brakes to shut it off. Complete your turn set your tool down and hit resume. Almost as fast as a skid-loader. Will lift over 2000 lb with the loader, which has a self-leveling bucket. Quiet cab and fast hyd. We pull a 6 row no-till Kinze planter with it. And loaded over 500 bales of hay.

I think you have the question backwards. You really want to know what the largest GST is. The smalest is down around the 30 hp. Thing is they (KUBOTA) are really pushingus as dealers to exit the glide shift and sell more hydros. Have no idea why because the old gst s all the way back to the L 2850 have really been good tractors. Going tonational dealer meeting this weekend in Texas. At that point kubota will display the offerings for next year. Lots on the tabel but also price increases in the mill..

The 5/6/77/81 Fords were, no doubt, the smallest full power shift AG tractors built.

Total infinate speed. Set the throttle anywhere, the further you push the lever, the faster they go. Just like a hydro lawn mower....

Well it is either going to be a 6000 series,2510 or 2520 or 3020 deere or a IH hydro watch the videos on youtube of the hydros and they are sweet. Leaning toward the IH hydro. Are they expensive to fix if they brake like the Jd ps and pq? What hydro models would you reccommend and are there any to stay clear of? How durable are the hydros?

Way below the 50HP mark the smallest power shifts I know of that were not hydro's were made by Yanmar. I saw some really little ones.

We had an IH 656 Hydro for a few years- stay away from that model-it'll cook you in the field. It was a utility model with a loader. We never had any trouble with it, but wasn't real friendly for field work. The higher row crop types are a different story. You are not right behind the engine and transmission. As far as repairs, we never had any needed, but I heard they could be costly, but then again it can't be any worse than the trany on my 6400. I lost a gear in it around 7000 hours and it cost over $4K fo a patch job. The power shift JD's are pretty much bullet proof, but give you gear like link ups. Somewhere around the --40 or 50 series they went from an 8 speed to about 13 or 15 speeds. Personally, I believe I'd just as soon stay with the older model tractors before the 6 and 7000 series for ease in working on them. I like the newer cabs better, but they are a PITA to work on. They were designed by a mad Bavarian puzzle maker in Europe or Slobovia somewhere. "Let's see how much chit we can cram into how small a space," was their motto.....

Donjr you are so right about the newer JD or for that matter really any newer tractor to work on. We have deere and Kubota new tractors and I love them but man I hate to work on them. I actually enjoy working on pre-1990 tractors, but not the new ones! I think I am going to stick with a older one we have new tractors so time to ad alittle vintage iron to the pack. I really want a 2520 but I am not paying the price for one so I'm just keeping my eyes out on a IH or JD thats a good deal from 3020 to probly 4040 maybe even 2950 or 2955. We have 7 cabs and just one open station so it's going to be an open station this go around.
