Italy just put several metiorologist type of guys (weather guessers) in prison for 6 or 7 years cause they didn't warn the public enough there could be an earthquake in the country sometime or other.

Had one and some folks got killed so someone's gotta pay.

You just can't make it up folks....

Gee think of all the scientists, economists and
politicians we could put in jail if we adopted that
here! IIRC this happened in Italy so I'm guessing
the only crime the seismologists are really guilty
of is not belonging to a Union, belonging to a
Union that didn't pay a big enough bribe (excuse me
I meant to say " make a campaign contribution")to
the party in power or didn't pay a big enough
tribute to the local Don.

I can't help but wonder what they would have done to them if they'd predicted an earthquake and it didn't occur. ie - the safe thing to do is just say "There's gonna be an earthquake". Sooner or later, they'll be right. . .

You know - I get the most aggravated at the weather forecasters who scare me out of cutting hay, and then we don't get a drop of rain. And then the window's gone and it sets in and rains forever.

Agreed about weather forecasters.

It helps to understand that weather reporting, like all other aspects of TV is all about ad revenue. It has little to do with forecasting accuracy.

While the story is baffling...the people accused are NOT weather people but rather seismologists the folks that study earthquakes

That makes more sense. Blaming the weatherman is like those idiots who say that an island that's sinking is proof that the ice caps are melting. Just one island mind you. I kinda think that's more a matter of geologic activity more than weather.

Stupidity these days is the only resource that there is an unlimited supply.Guess they'll be putting Indians in jail for doing a rain dance when someone drowns in a flood.

Yep if you noticed lately no one (including elected officials) is willing to take responsibility for anything on their watch, its always somebodys elses fault even if that person hasnt been in charge for years, SO WHAT MESSAGE DOES THAT SEND AND ITS NO WONDER PEOPLE FOLLOW DOWN THAT PATH. Hey, if its good enough for our elected officials then by golly Im not taking responsibility either and and it must be someone elses fault lol

Fun post, yall take care now AND ITS NOT MY FAULT LOL

It's ALWAYS someone elses fault, hence, someone elses responsibility....I know this because "our President" tells us such.

Personal responsibility has no place in modern society. And with that, I find I have no place in modern society. Kinda glad I'm getting old and probably won't be around a lot longer. Who wants to stay and see how this fiasco works out...?

Yup, makes a lot of sense doesn't it? Of course you put certain people in prison for things like that. The global warming crowd that predicted sea levels would rise by 10 feet by now get a pass....
