The Yankees looked pathetic, it wasn't even close. |

| | But I still think of a little poem from Mad magazine, back when the Tigers were the perenniel doormats of the American League: Tigers, Tigers, shining bright, In the ballpark of the night, Your pitching's fair, your fielding adroit, so why no pennants for Detroit? Congrats to the Tigers, and to A-rod of the Yanks, who looks to become the only guy in America who gets to sit on a bench and watch ball games for $25 million a year. |

| I was at the Cards game last night and boy was it a show. Glad those Tigers took out the Yanks. Any day that happens is a good day. Good luck if the Cards get to face your Tigers. Cards have some hot bats right now. |

| | Back to the late 60's again; Tigers vs. Cardinals. I'm a Yankee fan but my hat is off to the Tigers. I'm riding with them the rest of the way. A great team with a great manager. Jim Leyland is a class guy and deserves to win the World Series. So-congratulations, Tiger fans; keep those Tigers growling!! |

| Last time the Tigers won the Pennant was in '68 when Kaline, Mclain, Gibson, and Lolich won against the Cardinals with an 8 to 1 final. |

| And don't forget Willie Horton, Norm Cash, Dick McAuliff, Jim Northrup, Gates Brown, Tom Timmerman, Mayo Smith, Don Wert, Bill Freehan. Now that was a team. I was at Tiger Stadium once when Willie blasted a homer out of the stadium. What a sight. |

| Good players and good team. I can't remember who the coach was but undoubtedly Ernie Harwell was the announcer. |

| Mayo was the manager and probably Ernie Harwell and Paul Carey did the announcing. Didn't George Kell do the televised? |

| Should be a good series. I am a little suspect of the Tigers Bullpen. However,..Detroit has better starting pitchers than St. Louis. |
