There are charts online that will give you maximum torque values for bolt type and size. But remember these are max and you should alway set your wrench down some depending on the type and hardness of the material. Like I said its a learning curve the you will learn over time. Use the proper size whench so that you don't over torque the bolts. What I mean is don't use a half in. Ratchet to seat a 3/8 bolt. Or vise versa. Google torque values for bolts to find a chart.
