#85 IH grinder mixer. Anyone know anything about them? I may go and look at one and would like to know if they are an OK unit.

Thanks

Rick

It is just a read Arts-way mixer. They work alright but check out the unloading auger and gears. They throw the feed around the corner. There is a paddle on the lower auger that throws it across to the next auger. Then there is a bevel gear set on each corner. They work fair in dry feed. If there is much moisture in the feed they will not throw it around the corner and will plug. Also make sure that there has not been feed left in the unloading auger. It rusts the flighting and paddles. Then it will not unload correctly.

They were as good as the next one :). You could flip the hammers around on them so that you could get 4 turns on one set of hammers. Check and see how many times they have been turned. They just sold grandpa's old one that had the hammers flipped once and brought about $700 IIRC, however it had set in the shed for the last 25+ years with no use.

Likely built by Arts-Way. Always thought their unloading system was a bit complicated, with multiple augers, lots of gears. If hyd augers- much simpler.
