O.t Home KWH used ?

I finished up my first year living in a smaller home and my total for the year was 3,200 . I looked at the national average and was shocked to see some at 10,000 . How much do you guys use a year ?

About 8100 at home, about 3300 at cabin. Cost is about $780.00 each, rate is much higher at cabin, and it's a co-op! Some air conditioning at both, some heat at cabin. Both have electric water heaters. You are getting by very well!

It depends on how many appliances you have that are gas/electric and if you run AC. I have electric stove, so mine will be higher.

Wow ! That is low your bill should be pretty cheap. With this hot summer and ac running all the time my bills were $300 + a month. I'd have to look but I'm betting ours is always at least 1000 KW a month.

Mine is around 1200 monthly. Thats with a gas water heater and gas stove. Barn and 6 cows use that for their water as well. Shop is included still seems high to me but not high enough to be concerned yet.

Had a bad meter a couple of years ago and enjoyed a 5 dollar bill one month till we asked why the bill was so low. They figured it out then.

Local rate comes out to about 11 cents a KW

With A/C's going we had two months over $150 but we usually are around $50-$60. Not sure how many kwh that equates to. Funny though my neighbor and I share a pole and my bill went up when his ex-wife and 3 kids moved back in...

We use 300 KWh per month. But - that was after removing the electric hot water heater and electric clothes dryer. Both use propane which is another separate expense. Still, I do a bit of electric welding, now and then. Our biggest electric draw is in the winter when the wood furnace is going. The blower runs almost constantly all winter.

We make all our own power anyway with solar - and our 5400 watt system makes about 120% of our use, per year.

About 5000. All gas house. Shop with quite a few toys...er tools. We do have a 220v window ac that will cool the whole house.

y many years of experience say that it primarily depends on how many square feet you air condition and how much you wife likes "cool". 100 degree month with her home, 8,000 KWH is bad news. Her away, me controlling house:), 4,500 KWH is still not a happy bill. See ~1,600 KWH in winter, but then gas company gets the $$. Sometimes cabin is only around 300-400KWH in summer months. Size & temperature.

I metered my electric hot water separately for many years. When it was just two of us (LP heat, no AC) it was 40 percent of our total usage. After two kids it rose to 60 percent of the total bill. Monthly usage between 1200 and 1500 kWh. This was a rural home with a well.

BTW rural coop rates are higher but only the cost to serve. If we depended on investor owned utilities to serve rural America we would still be using candles.

A tad over 1000 sq ft. , wood stove , no ac just large shade trees that cover the house most the day and a basement that helps cool also. Been adding insulation r 60 in the attic so that should help me out too. It's small but all i need.

I use 1400+ every month. Summer months when the kids are home can be up to 2000. I don't think I ever been over 2200.

6 people in a 16 X 80 house all electric except the propane furnace. Even some electric heat in the winter. We got 2 chest freezers running most of the time cuz we butcher our own meat too.

So yeah, way over 10,000.

My neighbor on the other hand I bet don't use 1400 a year. All he does in his house is sleep. Eats every meal in town, takes a shower and washes clothes as often as the seasons change. Burns wood that his brother supplies for him.

Thats a great question! So I just added up mine and averaged 1392.3 avg/ mo.
2 years ago we went with a geothermal system which really hepls with hot water, and zone the system. Just the wife and I now in about 3000 sq ft

3200 for the year ???
2067KWhr last September and 4899.8 KWhr last December.
Hobby farm with a few lights on a timer for birds and water pipe beat tracing. Block heaters on vehicles and tractors
Baseboard heat in 2-1/2 car garage/shop, electric water heater with three teenagers, two fridges, two freezers, electric clothes dryer. 7 small 23w yard lights. Electric forced air heat when the wood fire isn"t stoked while at work.

I think my bill is about $130 to 150 per month. (summer time is $200+ per month due to A/C) I know that I am getting it for 12 cents per KWH. So I am using 1500 KW per month, you do the math.

My high for 2012 was 409 kwh in January, low was 287 kwh in August. 1900 sq feet, two story. No AC, Gas water heater, stove, and furnace. Just the two of us, no kids or other encumbrances.

10.4K kwh for the past year sept to august.
Me, wife and 3 teenage boys.
Oil fired heat, hot water, gas stove and electric clothes dryer.
Bill went up about $20/month when I finally broke down and let them have a 46" in TV.
No AC as we live in Maine.
We switch many lights to LED"s and screw in fluorescent. I install mechanical timers on all bathroom fans.

About 600 gallons of oil for heat and hot water.

Here's my usage history. A 2000 sq ft new home w/ 3 occupants, 2 occupants 24/7. House is all electric except the auxiliary heat is propane. Keep it 76-78 degrees in the summer and 78-80 in the winter.

I'm about 2200/month on a house and barn. Barn uses very little. Just lights for 2 hours a day and a water pump for 3-4 hours/day. House has an electric water heater, electric range, 2 freezers(both older) and a fridge. Only one room is heated(kept about 10c) with an electric heater in the winter.

Family of 5 all electric except heat which is coal we use 360 kwh a month. Used to use more we did some updating on appliances and switched to spiral bulbs usage went down but bill went up I guess we dropped below there usage guidelines so they gotta charge us more

Our 12 month average is 808 kWh per month, propane heat and stove, we use our wood stove 24/7 when it is cold. No ac but 2 fridges 1 freezer and 1 kegerator. 2 people in a 1600sf house and small shop 12x 30.

New 2000sq ft house. All electric including 260ft deep well for water along with small shop.
Mine looks about like johndeerfan. Last 12 months average was 1302 at a cost of .0856600
kwh. Have air to air heat pump. Energy cost are on the lower side of the nations average here in Tennessee.

Average for the last 12 months was 269.5 KWH/Month. It goes up some in the winter - I like my electric heater when I am on the computer. Just me - 100 year old house, propane heat and cook stove with electric water heater (new). All lights are CFL or LED, no TV. In the colder months I burn some wood to save propane.
My goal is to get below 200 KWH/Month. Next year I will be adding solar water heating.

(quoted from post at 22:11:20 09/27/12) Total electric house; well pump; and sewer aerator in septic tank so my water and sewer bill is in the electric bill. Plus I live far enough south that the A/C runs at least one day every month.

"I live far enough south that the A/C runs at least one day every month. "
NOW, you are for sure trying to extend our knee joints, Bubba!!!!!!!!!!

From this months bill, Aug. usage.

1,020 usage this month.
Highest usage last 12 months was 1250.
Average 883 a month.

These are for the house.

My well for the barn/outside use has used 1971 in the last year.

Tobacco stripping shack has used 46 in the last year. All that was in 3 months. Meter has never turned over when just the fence charger is run'n.

OUCH!!!

Only $.077469 here, coal trucks keep our roads messed up but it's cheap to keep the lights on.
