OT: First Frost

For as hot as this summer was,it's kind of surprising to see that fall is right on schedule. I walked through crunchy grass this morning in SE MN. I didn't cover my peppers since it was supposed to be a low of 39. I hope they survived. It seems like just a couple of days ago I was complaining about a the heat.... wait that was just a couple of days ago.

We had frost over a week ago now. Had Snow this morning, was a little shocking to me and the animals at feeding time this AM... haha

tjdub I live an the east side of the Mississippi and all of the flowers around the house were fine and the upper side of the gardern the pumpkins were fine but the lower side they got niped and are black.

Bob,

I gave up on my pumpkins in July because I wasn't about to haul buckets of water up the hill to them in that heat. So at least I didn't have them to worry about today.

You must be down in the bottom of the valley too then? It seemed like we only had frost in the lowest of the low spots in my valley. My garden's only a few feet above the floodplain though.

Living in this hole kind of stinks for the frosts, but it pays back 10 times over when those winter winds start blowing :)

Yes I live in the valley and we will have frost and no one else will. I did not water my pumpkins at all this summer but we had a lot of mornings with heavy dew. I also agree with the winter, I step out in the winter and hear the wind blowing up on the ridge and the wind mill in the yard is not even moving. Take care.
