Can't believe you're just starting oats - we cut ours (binder) early July. Shocked them, dried down for a couple weeks, and then stored them on wagons for our local (Blanchard, MI) steam/tractor show last weekend in August. They've been in storage since. Your growing seasons must be short up there. Actually, what part of Canada are you?

m from northern Alberta, we start to plant around May
 
We usually plant oats in the fall here at 37 n. Cut for hay at
middle of June. Due to weather this year I could not plant
until May. Did not cut til late August. Hope to get bales
picked up before first rains.
