depends on what you intend to use it for, hydro can't be beat on loaders, haybines and small balers. powershift if it were all for heavy pulling/tillage

NEW? What year? Say 69. Then the 730. It has more power and is more fuel efficient and has better speeds than the 3020, will pull more for tillage than the 656, and don't know anything about the 6000. The 656 with a torque, or 3020 with regular 8 speed might change my mind tho. Unless we are only talking about baling, then the 656, for loader only the 730.

Go back in your time machine and get all the late 3020 & 4020'S and store them in a climate controlled building then you could sell them now for at least 4 times ? maybe more? what you paid for them !

I saw a Ford 6000, in fact it was a 6000 Commander, for sale one time for about $850. It wasn"t worth that. The Case was a good tractor (Case 731C) but our dealer was a cranky old coot and only people who were just as cranky as he was could do business with him. The IH dealer was fast turning himself into a furniture dealer. So, that left John Deere. By the time the 3020s came along, they turned out to be excellent tractors. Still are.

I think a 1600 would have been available right about then,but yea,the Oliver hands down going away.

Come to think about it,3 of'em. One to use and two to put in storage. Just think what a NOS 1600 would be worth right now!

The 730 is 56hp, all the rest are at least 10hp more if not 15hp. Makes a difference. An 830 would be more of a fair comparison with the COM tranny. I'd take that one myself because I'm familiar with the COM and know the Cases of that era to be fine tractors. The 6000 is also not a good comparison because it was released way too soon and had major, major issues. A later model 5000 would still be in the same hp range and was a far more reliable rig.

3020 is a pretty choice out of those. A 5000 Ford and a 1600/1650/1655 Oliver would be my choice over any of those.

I would say none of the above, but if would have to chose one it woud be the IHC. Would pick the Ford 5000 gear drive. That is what I did have. Drove Uncles 3020 and hated it. Would not have a slect-o-speed and don't know anything about Case as none were sold around me.
