Picked a Little Corn Yesterday

Each year I plant a little corn at my grandma"s place. Something to do to keep the antiques all working and a little to sell to help pay for my habit! Hope the pictures load.

I'll bet that old bugger would be even worse on big hills than that New Idea Uni that I used to have.

Great photos.
The trouble with small scale farming is on the harvesting end. Plows, tillage equipment, planting stuff is still readily available at auctions, etc.
The harvesting equipment is gone.
I like to see a piece still working.
Thanks

yes it is a massey harris picker. i bought it about 4 years ago.....gave it a little tune up and picked the last 3 crops with it. it runs and operates very well. i know its not much to look at but paint dont make em run! yeah it was a good thing i got that picked yesterday. been raining here since mid morning. in a drought year on timber soil i had the best corn there that ive had in years.

Neat old Massy picker that you have there. Just wondering , does yours have a 6 cyl or a little 4 cyl engine? Those 4 cyl engines were short on power in tough going . Any idea as to how old it is ? I think they were made in the early 50 s. clint

it has the 226 continental 6 cylinder flathead engine. the same as whats in my massey 44-6. great running engine! and yes much better in power than the 4 cylinder is.
