When starting in a mechanical latch is flipped and the top link shortens to steepen the plough's entry into the soil. Then the top link extends and latches to a fixed length. [Reply]  [No Email]

Leroy 09-07-2012 05:22:32 69.88.205.38 Report to Moderator	Re: top hydraulic link in reply to thunderbolt, 09-07-2012 04:39:38   If you have an extra double action remote but remember that usually you cannot feather the controls enough to just move the adjustment an eighth or even a sixteenth of an inch that the adjustments that are required on adjusting most implements will require. For hookup I would think they would be nice but for the final adjustments I would thin they would be a pain in the rear. I do not have a remote on my tractors that would work. The only place that I would think they would be handy is with a rear boom to give a lot more lifting positions. And with that usage you would not have to be conserned with close adjustments like you do with a plow. Probably need flow restrictors in line to slow operation down. [Reply]  [No Email]

I can adjust the cylinder any small amount - 1/8" or even less if needed. Great for adjusting my 3 point plow or flail on the go. I did have to build a new top link bracket to clear the end of the hydraulic top link. It"s plumbed into one of the remotes. [Reply]  [No Email]

They appear to have the two ends of the cylinder plumbed together, with a valve between. I guess they fill it with oil and bleed it good, but it looks like any seal wear would make it useless. Also - any adjustment would probably not be done from the tractor seat, at least on my tractors. Anybody ever try one of those? [Reply]  [No Email]

It's apparently an oil filled cylinder. The two chambers are plumbed together with a valve in the line. I suppose you'd crack the valve to allow oil to flow, then raise or lower your lift arms to retract or extend the top link, then close the valve.
