When I saw the bluish tint to the photos, I recollected that the early color film looked like that, and wondered how you got that effect- then I got to the one with the DeSoto, and it all became clear!

Thanks for posting- fun to reminisce about "the old" days. We had an 8mm movie camera when the kids were little, and took a bunch of movies. Everybody assumes they're lost, but they're in a box somewhere, and I'm going to get them out, spliced and run them at Christmas. Got the camera when oldest was born- he'll be 36 this month.

We went to NY for Easter and drove back through Canada all the way from Ottawa to Ft. Frances, saw a lot of beautiful country. We go fishing in the Canadian lakes just north of the border a few times each summer and a lot of it looks like your pictures.

These pictures ere taken with a Zeiss Single lens reflex useing Kotachrome slide film and a light meter.gitrib

gitrib,

Beautiful pictures - thanks.

Now, there's no way in the world that I would argue with a person who was actually there, but that sure looks like a 1957 Desoto to me. My all-time favorite full sized automobile.

Gitrib,
Beautiful photos. Love the one of you and your wife by the car. Thanks for sharing.

Every summer when I was a kid, we vacationed at lakes in northern Minnesota. Many summers we were on Lake Vermillion. Your photos bring back great memories!

Very nice - thanks for sharing! Brings back memories of when I was a kid and we used to go for Sunday drives and pack a picnic.

You sure stirred my memory, we had a "57 Desoto at home. I"m thinking that the tailights were different than this photo, but my memory is no where as clear as the picture. LOL

It still looks that way if you get up to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area. I make a point to take at least one trip up there every year. It's good for the soul!!!

This car was unusual. I was drving a lot of miles 60=70,000 a year had a ford station waon lemon. Was at my Dads & said lets go see what you can trade for Dealer said," I got just what you need, it is back on the wash rack. Dad "There is no way I can sfford that" I got the full story. Yes it was a last yea model. Had all of the opions Dual headlites Fancy two tone paint an special interior. $600. What model it was is difficult because I traded it for a 1959 De Soda and it had 150,000 on itYear wise 58-59. It was a running machine. Had a race car mechanic in town wHo loved the tortion bar front end doctord with it and talk about cornering. WOW NEVER HAD TO LET UP ON A CORNER JUST PUSH THE GAS DOWN.gitrib
