I am saddened to hear that Neil Armstrong has died. I was about 13 when he first walked on the moon. It seems like only yesterday. Condolences to all his family and friends.

I was an aeronautical engineering student at USC when he came out there to make a speech. We were all invited and it was an honor to attend. What it was all about was that he was several credits short of his master's degree and, in return for making a presentation, he was given the credits and awarded his masters in aeronautical engineering. One student in attendance was a girl who kept swooning throughout. When he left he was swamped in the parking lot by young girls. That was 42 years ago.

A couple of years ago I was at Kennedy and watched the video of the first moon landing. I couldn't help but be surprised at how much like a kid Neil looked at the time of that flight. Also did not realize until seeing that video that he had to overide the computer and reposition the lander, essentially flying by the seat of his pants in the critical moments just before setting down. Seems the program had them trying to land in a bunch of large rocks!

I saw it on CNN about 20 min ago. Real life ends no matter how ICONIC. I think his reclusiveness was a good path. His insistance on the tremendous work of others was the selflesness that truely makes Heros. May he rest in peace. Jim

I like the story about Neil Armstrong's neighbour. Bet Neil never guessed his moon walk would get him a 2011 movie part either.

Let's set the scene. Hey Neil we want you to take a trip. Where we going ? Oh not far you can see it. Ok I'm in,Why am I in this rocket? Pow to the moon. Ok now get out and walk around.

I don't think I would have the brass, stone,or any kind of B@#LS TO DO THAT! I wish I was young enough to see it first hand. I've seen all the footage but I don't get excited about it as it is been done already. I hope he is remembered as the HERO HE REALLY IS.
