Broke a 3/4 drive Thorsen ratchet the other day, bought it back in the early 90's. From what I found they went bankrupt and the name has been bought and sold a few times. I remember the set having a lifetime warranty, was checking to see if anyone has ever gotten a replacement after the companys bankruptcy? The store I bought it from is long gone, thanks for any information.

I bought my Saab Sonett back in 1969 with a lifetime warranty.
Now they don't want to honor it Bummer. It's only been 44 years. I told them "it's pretty bad when a guy out lives his lifetime warranty"

I doubt it. Don't feel bad. Sears IS still in business but won't honor their lifetime Craftsman warranty as I have learned to my cost. They won't get my business again.

What do you have from Sears with A lifetime warranty that they will not replace?
I have not had a problem with hand tools.

I know its earned its keep over the years, just thought maybe theres a chance its warranty would still be honored, if not I will cut the head off of it and use it for a big drive punch. :)

Pale Rider/Ralph1111, What kind Of problem do you have??? maybe there is a reason, I do not try Electrical tool at all! I have and used the lifetime warranty many times, on the Hand tools, wrenches, screwdriver and haven't had any problems except for a pi$$y girl sales clerk on a screwdriver many yrs ago. Just bought an assortment of Craftsmans wrenches this week I will trade out here in the future.
The Tool is warranted Not the buyer doesn't matter if you were the 1st owner of a tool or 21st owner.
Since I started in 1980 buying tools,, It is MY call! Not Theirs!!!!Have 2 Sears stores relatively close, both about 25 miles in opposite directions.
Thunder I do not ask, Just go to the Tool Ilse, start pulling wrenches, sockets, Screwdrivers, whatever, walk to the counter, and tell them I need new ones, And get with the exchange!
Hope this helps.

Thorsen wrenches were the low priced tools before the Asian tools came on the market. I bought several including a 3/8 set amd a set of combination wrenches. I still have most and use them of them but they did not have the high quality polish the more costly wrenches had.My first choice back in 1959 would have been Sears Roebuck "Craftsman" but my $50 weekly pay check could only allow thorsen or Montgomery Ward "Powercraft 100"

Since that time I have bought better but never felt I was handicapped by tool quality.

My first ratchet set in 1961 was a Thorsen, never broke anything in the set. Don't think you can get them warrentied now.

I did get a Thorsen 1/2 inch
socket replaced at a Coast to Coast Hardware store 15 years ago or so. Replacement was Chinese made.
Now there are no more Coast to Coast stores.
