Gonna rant now about the home insurance company and their agents. For years I Had the same insurance that my daughter has,up until I was told" I had to paint my new cement block garage. Now I dont have a mortgage ,(so my daughter doesn't either)or else. Told the agent to stuff it, I will change company's, which I did, Now comes threatening letter/s telling me I had to disclose the new insurance carriers For their records. Now this went on until the 3rd letter when I walked into te insurance office and let em know if I received just one more letter, it's off to court. When that company tried to raise their rate ,because a lot of fools built in a flood plane.and N.Orleans was under water. I wasn't about to have my rate increased to help the insurance company's recover their cost of claims to be paid out.Still cant figure out who died and made them king, and what a coat of paint to a cement block garage had anything to so with coverage on the building. Both my daughter and me( My sons property) have no mortgage so really no insurance is required by any lending institution. Just saves a bill from the fire Department if they are called to our home to extinguish a home fire or neighbors houses(which there isn't any close by). What really pizzed me off, was the fact that older homes had knob and tube wiring in the house, Attic, walls, but really looked good painted /sided. Several days later the new insurance company wanted to know if our home had knob and tube. Yea right!!!!!. Any how I told her it's time to change company's. Tired of their agent saying they are re-evaluating (so they can get more money from her)Trying to pay claims for fires that burned up the homes out west.Next thing their demands will include washing the windows, sweeping the deck etc. No mortage,so they can stuff their demands, as far A I;m concerned. Done ranting.!!!!!!!!!!! Were not sheep being led to the slaughter. LOU.

And insurance is a "regulated industry" Ya really want to mess with them? Call down to consumer affairs in Madison and file a complaint because they are "redlining". If they're raising a fuss about knob & tube file a compliant that they're making up their own codes to exclude you on the bases of race, ethnic origin or another factor, heck if you really want to mess with them claim they're making new requirements on you because they don't like your husband and want to drop you.

How about this one?

I bought my land, that was it, vacant land. I built a house, barns and put in a trailer park on my dime. Mortage Company calls me and says 'We understand you have dwellings and buildings on the property but we have no proof of insurance'. I told them that I did not have to provide "proof of insurance" to them on the buildings and dwellings because to loan was for the land. They threatened to foreclose if I did not provide POI. I told them to shove it.

Finally, had to go all the way to the VP before I could get someone to understand that the loan was for the land only, not the buildings or dwellings.

I'm sorry to see that your "Enter" key is broken.

By any chance have you made quite a few claims recently? Strange that no insurance company in Wisconsin wants your business.

My bosses house got hailed on last year but he never got around to reshingle it, the shingles were 3 years old. Then this spring the house got hailed on again so now he got it shingled the insurance company said their dropping him for to many claims. If he would have gotten after the roof and shingled last year they would have had to pay twice but with him being slow they only had to pay once!! And still want to drop him. My cousin farms and the insurance agent came out just to see the place a little trashy but he farms and works for a large feedlot. Agent said no extension cords outside, needs to be in conduit, he has one going to the fuel barrel for the pump, reasonable decision, one is a fencer running to a tree grove for summer and to clean/knock down weeds and wants it in conduit, the cord would be there for a month.

House insurance is a use it and loose it deal. If you make a claim it better be for a total loss, just as you are finding out. There is a nation wide data base on home claims(by address) and you may buy a house and not be able to get insurance on it, just because someone paid a hail damage claim five years ago.

You must have difficulty puttint two words together to read LOL.
And for your information, they all want my business,I just don't play their games.
I'm insured now and have been forever, since that jerky insurance agent told me "I had to inform them of my current insurance company". LOU

wisbaker,
I'll bet your interested for me to send you a picture of my cajones? LOL Never wanted a husband, since I'm male and always had a preference for female company.lol.Must be refering to Dave 2 and his manpurse.lol.
All our houses never had knob and tube, the insurance was worried about paint on block building instead of other faulty problems in other peoples houses that could and will cause fire and other damage.
Guess they just worry with the outside appearence of dwellings and forget the wiring and structural problems. ie native timber with infested termites, wiring etc.

We use an independent insurance agency that keeps us advised of the best coverage among the several different companies that they write for.

I quit using insurance company agents many years ago. Our independent agentcy tracks the insurance company and makes sure that they don't carry any previous damage claims beyond the legal limit, which most of the insurance companies would like to do to keep charging more money.
