Over the years I have lost 5 cats to liver/kidney failure. A couple of years ago when two more cats started showing signs, vet gave me some tabs called Denosyl. I gave them those tabs daily for about a year and then gradually started decreasing. Both cats fully recovered, are happy and healthy. Its been at least 2 yrs since I stopped giving the tabs.

As for the others, there was no connection that could have caused the problem. Two were at the farm in e. Tx and 3 were at our home in Dallas. Wish I had known about Denosyl then.

You can get Denosyl on the internet. Its not expensive. I have a pill pusher I got from the vet that makes giving dogs/cats pills pretty easy.

What are you feeding them?

We lost a labrador mix very early due to kidney failure and we found that the name brand foods (Science Diet in this case)are full of fillers and really are not that good for your pets.

Our new dog is on a weird named feed called "Chicken Soup for the dog lover's soul". They make cat food as well and we have now switched the cat over to it. It rates highly in nutritional value and has little filler. This means the animal can actually digest it better and there's less trips outside or less cleaning the litter box out.

We did a lot of internet searching for better quality food before we settled on this one. I will never buy Science Diet for any animal again.

I was feeding them Diamond "maintenance" for adults. That was the only link, so I switched and started feeding Purina to both the cats and dogs.

About a year after switching, one of my dogs came down with a major ear infection. Vet said it was probably caused by allergies from what I was feeding.

I've switched back to the Diamond.

I would like to feed a better brand, but $$ are a factor. Last bag of Diamond dog food was $35 for a 40 lb bag at TSC. I spend more $ feeding dogs, cats and horses than I do feeding James and I.

I've seen the chicken soup and will check the price.

Look carefully at the label. If it says Made in China put it back on the shelf. Also switch brands frequently to try and fill in nutrients that one misses.

Where are you finding them, because the ones I found was going to run about $30 per month, per Cat.

I haven"t bought them in a while. I have several boxes at home that I"m not using. Would you be interested in them at $10.00/box? I will need to check dates on them if you"re interested in them.

email is open.

My problem would be that I would have to use it on 10 cats, so that wouldn't help me much.
