I just bought an early wd 45 that is giving me fits trying to get it to run. It has great spark and has been properly converted to 12 volt. It has 120 compression on al l 4 cylinders. I totally cleaned every hole and port on carb and it looks great. The only thing that I can drum up is that im not getting fuel to plugs. But why? Have good flow to carb and doesnt flood so any help would be great!!!!!! |

| Like all old tractors it was running when parked. I am not up with the carb on these but can you see down the throat when removing air hose.?like the old car operating the accel. linkages will show the petrol squirting. you may need a mirror. Have you cleaned the air cleaner. Did you remove the rocker cover and check the valve timing,? Did you remove the tap from fuel tank to check for buildup of crud.? Just a little guess work here but that is the approach I would take. |

| Will it fire using Starting fuild? If yes it is a fuel prolbem. If no might be an air problem. Is there any chance that the manifold is totally plug. Happen to me on an old pickup. |

| I would try squirting starting fluid or carb cleaner at the intake ports where they contact the head; if there are leaks, the tractor will fire. When I bought my D-17, the guy had had the head redone and put a very good looking used manifold on it with all new gaskets. As good as it looked, the manifold was warped and required some "squaring up" with a big flat Ba$tard file. Sometimes the head gets pitted as well but that"s mostly on the exhaust ports. |
