Hello, does anyone know if the rubber in the fan of an unstyled B is available? If so where can I get it? Thanks Pat |

There used to be someone who would rebuild the old rubber fan drives, maybe advertised in Green Magazine or Two-Cylinder. Other than that you'll have to find enough parts to convert to the later friction disc type. Duane Larsen's CD has a section on doing the conversion. Hope this helps, Paul

Thanks. Mine seems pretty stable but I'm doing a complete restoration and I figured while its apart I would rebuild it. I really would like to keep it original. If I can't find someone to rebuild it I will run it until I don't have a choice but to update. Thanks Pat

You'll know when you're choice to update comes. The fan goes into the radiator. I learned the hard way on my 35 A that you do not grab a fan blade to turn the engine over just a tweek to adjust the points. The rubber broke loose from the hub. I thought I was OK till that terrible sound came from the radiator area as the fan was chewing a circle into it. You might get by with it with a spring/friction fan hub but the results aren't good with a rubber hub. Jim

I know there use to be someone that you could send your fan to and they would rebuild it and put new rubber in it. Maybe someone will chime in that knows who does this. Anyone know if Detwilers does it.

Thanks, but I think the set up on my tractor is different. The style that uses a friction disk has an external spring to hold tension on the drive disk which is standard on the styled tractors. Mine is more of an isolator between the fan shaft and the fan. Thanks Pat.
