Farmers around here are starting to pray for hail! Any moisture will do.

Allan,no I wont yell at you any more about stubble mulching, now that I know what soil you have. what you are doing there would be disaster here tho. Never heard how the wheat crop turned out for you. Around here it was only 15 -25 bu. , but did get some. Three weeks earlier than usual. Colorado was all over by the 4th. Irrigation water has run out and many irrigated corn fields are dead/done.
North East Colo is booming with oil activity (niobrara and horizontal drilling) Roads are over run with trucks.

Yeah the catfish raise dust in the river here. Just had a storm come past last night, but fell apart before it got here. Any corn that is not irrigated is pretty much gone by now and in some of the sandy areas it is already laying down. Dad picked some from a 10 acre patch of his that is on the crick bottom, and it had decent kernals about half way up but then they just faded into nothing. How bad will this be for winter wheat Allen?

Well it least it can't burn ;), must be like plowing talcum powder by now, won't it blow away or something ?

End of August 2010, I plowed some unused ground, was so dry it made dust, never saw dust from mold board plowing in this area before, could hardly believe it even worked.

'Haven't seen any pictures of you baling your alfalfa this year. HOw does the alfalfa do during long periods of drought like this year? Does it go dormant and come back when the moisture returns?

Gonna need it by the time he gets to the other end. He'll have all the iron ground right off that one by then.
