Thanks for the replies. We set out some trees last fall, on about one third of an acre, so about 5 trailer loads of water (5,000 gallon loads) would give me about an inch and ahalf of water. I can get water from the city pretty reasonable. Would be alot faster than a garden hose from our pump. Harold

If I remember right 1 inch of rain on 1 acre of land it and here is where I get lost. It is either 2700 gal or 27,000 but either way it is a lot of water if you think about it. As in enough to fill a small swimming pool

Old, You are real close. An Acre = 43,560 sq.ft. It would take 3,630 cu.ft to cover an acre 1" thick. There are 7.5 gal. in a cu.ft., so that = 27,225 gal., or 113,256 ton of water. Loren, the Acg.

| | I think 27,000gal of water is more like 108 ton of water. 27,000 times 8 pounds = 216,000 pounds divided by 2000 pounds = 108. Gary |

27,000. If my math is right, it would be enough to put 3' of water in a 30x40 swimming pool.

hey old,my dad served in the navy during ww2,hit pearl the day after the japanese attacked. somehow,he qualified as a rescue swimmer despite being born and raised in western okla where there wasnt even a mudhole in three counties.never did figure that out. I'm like you though,i figure if god wanted a guy to swim he wouldnt have gave us enough sense to build boats.

Ya funny how things happen like that. I did 6 years in the navy and the only time I got in the water was in boot camp and only then because you had to be able to stay afloat for 5 minutes to pass boot camp. I don't wear shorts either. Now get this. My first wife did a horoscope thing on me and it said fire would not hurt me but water can kill me as in all my signs are water signs. Starting with the goat as my birth mouth
