Noticed during the bicycle ride today that the return of 100+ temps was really cooking the corn. Yesterday, after a few days reprieve (daytime temps had dropped to the mid 80's-low 90's),it began again to look a little tough but today really hammered it. Perhaps some rain tomorrow will salvage something. Last week when the temperatures moderated, thought the worst might be behind. Similar woe for the beans, today was quite a whack. Haven't looked at our venture in a couple of weeks, nothing to gain by speculating what could have been. Thirty+ mile trip RT and it is too hot for that trek. Wasn't as good as some but certainly better than others. It can't be thriving. Too bad I listened to the market advisors and sold 50 bu/acre at $5.50 this spring. Should be able to cover that position, only drawback is that operating cash flow isn't going to be good. Most likely will need to rob from another pocket for next years inputs.
