I'll upload more pictures when time permits.

FS brand 5099-VT3 seed. drought tolerance at 1 out of 10. 1 being the best. It was $256 a bag, but, it is paying off.

This is the first year I get braggers rights for buying the right corn for the year. The rest of the photo looks like southern california, but the corn is 6 feet high, not nearing tassle, and has had no rain in weeks if not months... I'm bragging on these fields. It's just a pretty picture anyhow... Grass is dead and brown, the trees have their leaves turned up. The corn is strong and growing.

It's as high as my truck on my worst fields.

one more shot of the worst spot on the lowest field... had good nitrogen, had good seedbed, had good voodoo(I asked some jamaican woman to bless it) and had good planting depth. The rest was up to FS seeds, and they came through...

The rest of the stuff I planted was not 5099-VT3. It looks like crap...

I hate gambling, but, betting on the good seed seemed to be a good investment. I might buy it again!

Back when i was selling seed corn the best that i had ever seen was Pfister's 2277 and 2375 and it was expensive at 86 bucks a bag. It out yielded Pioneer 's best by 30 BPh I swear the cross bred it with a cactus .

I don't care what anyone says, sacrificing chickens is the way to go...

I think I am just north of you, most on my corn is 8' plus, tassled, and looking good till the daytime heat gets to it, but could really use a drink. When one of these storms rolls through it is like the red sea parting around us. Maybe today.

sacrificing chickens doesnt work here anymore, ive been fattening up a black cat,to bury in the grave yard at midnight, after dancing around naked in the light of the full moon...

There are some strays around, what bait works best for cats in a box trap?

plain bait alone is not so effective on cats, simply because they dont really smell their prey so much as see it.what i do when catching strays is take a piece of an old 8track or cassete tape and tie it to the top of cage where it blows in the wind and gets their attention, then as bait i use just regular canned cat food if i have it,or a piece of fried chicken. you can catch a lot of them in a row if you wire your cage open a few days and feed them there three or four days.I caught seven once, just by setting the trap, walking inside the door and closing it.as soon as i closed the door behind me one would run in the trap trying to beat the others there, because they had learned the first one got all the food.

Don't worry about how fat that black cat is. The the only thing that makes it effective is the timing - need to know just when to bury it.
