Crankshat Oil Seal

I need to replace the front crankshaft oil seal on my David Brown 990. I have the new seal, but I see where there is a groove on my pulley shaft, which is where the seal goes. I slid the old one on there and am sure that is where my problem is.

I saw somewhere last night looking around on the internet where you can buy something that slides over that groove; the guy writing about it called had some slang term for it. Anybody know what it is or where it can be bought?

Thanks.

I think you're talking about a speedi-sleeve or a redi-sleeve.

They're just thin sleeves that go over the worn area to sort of build it back up - giving a new face for the oil seal to ride on.

Can be a bit pricey, but worth their weight in gold if it solves a problem for you.

I've found the best pricing for them on Amazon

A speedy sleeve can be pricey but it's a lot cheaper than a new crank or even pulling the old crank and having it built up and turned down.

I tried NAPA and Auto Value in my area and neither place could help me much. Do you know where I can get the exact one I would need?

Thanks.

Look it up on amazon - you should be able to find it there if you get the part number from the link I posted to the skf site.

And potentially a lot cheaper than other places.
