Value of a Rumely Oil Pull

Howdy,

I've seen an auction that is coming up this year with a couple Rumely tractors in it. I realize that auctions can take tractor prices to new heights or new depths (seen both at various auctions). But since this auction is pretty far from me I wanted to know a ballpark on the tractors before making traveling plans. The tractor is a Rumely 25-40 model X. It is sitting in a tractor graveyard and probably hasn't run in decades. I can't tell if it is complete or not but looks like it is mostly there from the one picture in the sale bill. I have seen some auction results on these but all have been either running or restored. Just wondering what this one might be worth. Thanks and God bless.

Old fashiend, I could not give an estimate on value, but i saw one in photo adds in good shape for $16,000. And i remember in better times as much as $20,000. 2,041 were built about 300 survive. producton years 1928-1930.An 25-40 X weighed in at 9,290 pounds The one i have is converted from an older model 20-35 M. I hope this helps. Philip

Always thought the Oil Pull was one of the grandest old machines. The size and stature of a steam engine. Yet the convenience of a spark ignition engine. Exhaust note similar to a steam train . Love to have one.

Guy in town has one and runs it in the 4th of July parade every year. The day before parade it was sitting on his lawn like always, covered partially with a plastic tarp, next morning it was lined up on the parade route.

Thanks Philip. I am new to Rumely tractors (two cylinder deere guy personally) but saw this auction and thought they looked interesting. I understand about the value. I've been scowering the net looking for old auction results, etc. Most all are for either restored or running tractos so the values are pretty high (understandably so). I guess I'm trying to convince myself to make the trip to the auction. There are a couple at this sale and both have been in the bone yard for several years. But that is just the kind of tractor I like to get my hands on and bring back to life. I just don't want to spend the money it would take to restore the tractor before I turn the first bolt on the thing. Thanks again for the info. God bless.
