Ernest Borgnine passed away today at age 95.
I never liked TV. Never watched much Andy Griffith.
But I did like McHale's Navy.

"Watch Out!!
You'll get us blown from here to New Calidonia!!"

Yeah, it is sad to see them leaving like that, and, they are getting older, so where does that leave the rest of us? I should be so lucky as to see 95! Interestingly, there is a local TV station running re-runs of McHale's Navy now.

Aside from the series, he was a WWII navy vet, a Mason (Scottish Rite), and plenty of other roles.. I remember a movie where he was an engineer on a train (emporer of the north??) and carried a ballpeen hammer and would knock hobos in the head with it.....

Yes, Emperor of the North. Best RR'ing movie ever made in my opinion. Also starred Keith Carradine and Lee Marvin

Ernie passed?! That is sad. I don't know how I'm going to explain to my youngest cousin that there will be no new Spongebob episodes with Mermaid Man (Barnacle Boy is v. by Tim Conway, btw). Thought it was the dumbest show on the planet until I heard a familiar voice & found out it was Ernest. Now I'm going to have to haul out "Emperor Of The North Pole", dig out my last bottle of bourbon & have a toast to Shack.

zum Whol!

Mike
