OT - Bell Peppers - Worm inside

My wife just cut open a bell pepper to find a worm or grub has been living inside it. The pepper was in good shape on the outside. It is very dry here and very hot - prolonged drought conditions for over one month, temps at, and above 100 for over one week. We have been watering the garden daily. We picked 50 to 70 peppers today, most with spots due to the sun. We have never seen this before. Is anyone familiar with this happening ? Will Sevin help? Are there going to be more? Any information is greatly appreciated.

Looks to me like a good use for a bell pepper! I don't know what the problem is but if I eat any bell pepper I will know about it for days. I can handle jalapeno or banana peppers fine but NO bell peppers.

That pepper must be well cared for. That's when the worms get em... That's a grub I think.

Go to town with the sevin. It is good stuff, but, I think it it too late as those things get bore in before you even know they exist. Those brown spots are all worms. What a shame, but I've been there. It's time to unleash teh dogs and let fly the sevin. You can salvage the rest if you get on it. You pick them off early and often and dust the rest and the problem will go away. DDT always worked great. I have a secret stash of that, now.

Ain't ya ever seen a worm in a Tequilla bottle?
Lucky Guy!, ya got tequilla worms in yur peppers!
Just close yur eyes and bite. Yum!

My bell peppers have brown spots on them too. Must be from the heat. I haven't found any worms yet! I just posted some pics of my garden.

The egg was deposited on the blossom, and that is how the grub ended up inside the bell pepper. The use of liquid Sevin, or even Sevin dust ON THE BLOSSOMS should eliminate any future problems. Nothing you can do about what has already happened.

You might want to contact Jose Cuervo. Them bugs may just put a real kick in their juice. And the veggie crowd may just really go for it--
